Ireland politics (Part 1)

At what stage can we consider a foetus has a right to that ā€” fighting over something you desire suggests consciousness - are you saying that without conscious thought you are not a person?

Once the man has sexual intercourse with a woman. If you donā€™t want children, donā€™t have sex.

Thatā€™s how babies are made.

If you canā€™t do the time then donā€™t do the crime.

Would you say that to a victim of rape? Or to the mother that has been told that her child, if it survives the pregnancy, would pretty much die within a day or two of being born? Itā€™s fine and dandy for a male virgin like yourself to be all self righteous when you will never have to make these decisions in life.

Iā€™m asexual. People need to show restraint.

How many rape victims fall pregnant of the rape?

How many babies will be deprived the right to live because men and women canā€™t deal with consequences of consensual sex. Itā€™s about the greater good.

No one here is saying abortions for all willy nilly, mate ā€¦ Iā€™d be up for a fairly limited version of it but Irish women are doing it everyday for a multitude of reasons -we canā€™t just turn a blind eye to it any more.

There is no point in debating this until the wording of the referendum comes out.
Simply ā€œrepealing the 8thā€ is meaningless, and cowardly. The alternatives should/must be laid out in the open before any vote has meaning.

+1

We can do our best to stop them.

Off you go, mate ā€¦ a protest at T2 in Dublin airport should be your first port of call.

God help us all when the wording of the referendum does come out. There will be skin and hair flying all over the place.

Hopefully it will be a short time between when the wording is released and the referendum. I dont think the country could 6 weeks let alone 6 months of a debate on this.

Iā€™d be inclined to agree.

Plenty of people are.

Labour want to introduce a UK style model

Here on TFK? - I donā€™t interact with the outside world much these daysā€¦

Ahā€¦ I see your edit ā€¦ No one gives a fuck about Labour and I donā€™t think we are suddenly going to jump from illegal to buy one get one freeā€¦ It will be conservative but the concern is I suppose, once itā€™s in, then regulations might be relaxed.

But again, we have a duty to our living women also, not just a potential life. In 2016 3,265 women that we know of travelled to the UK for an abortion.

Ok, so you want willy nilly abortions to be legalized.

Where did I say that, mate? We donā€™t know half the reasons why they are travelling ā€¦ and at the end of the day, we can be as conservative as we like, those women will still jump on a plane if we say no here and their mind is made upā€¦ we are not stopping anyone, just moving the responsibility of care onto another country ā€“ In typical Irish fashion.

Have you a busy day lined for yourself chief? Or have you the tracksuit on and a big mug of coffee while settling in for a good oul debate?

I havenā€™t worn a tracksuit since I was a child, mateā€¦ Iā€™m happy at work, thanks, and thankfully largely free for most of the week with a half day on Friday followed by 3 weeks holidaysā€¦

You going swimming for the day again?

This should be written into the constitution, althougj it may need to be adapted for irishness. Maybe fighting a roaster for the last portion of carvery.
