You need to change up your argument so, mate â One minute youre stating it starts from conception, the next youre claiming itâs been taking away before it has begun - itâs either life or it isnâtâŚand far greater minds than you have struggled with that question.
Itâs not until around week 20/21 that a feotus can survive outside the womb - I think that is certainly a point that we can all agree on that we are talking about a person/human life. Up to that point there is all kinds of arguments about life/consciousness/protection by law etc. etc â Up to this point the foetus is merely a host and youâre ignoring the rights of the hostess to evict unwelcome hosts up to this point.
Your argument about the greater good is pathetic and can be used to excuse everything from genocide to the erosion of individual rights
In Ireland what we have had is law that refuses to consider what happens in hard cases. That has led to a legal quagmire, confusion, and dreadful consequences for real people.
In the absence of legal access to abortion on demand, any abortion legislation becomes an area which must focus on what happens in hard cases.
did these 3,265 woman know how they got pregnant i wonder?
maybe we need to focus our efforts on the cause rather than the symptom. its an utterly bizarre situation when you think of it
If people exercise sexual restraint then there will be little to no unplanned pregnancies. Which means no abortions.
That is not a contradiction, that is the starting point. Personal responsibility.
If people choose to be irresponsible, chose to take risks, choose to be reckless for cheap thrills then there are consequences and I donât advocate terminating the lives of unborn children or empowering these irresponsible people to do so is in anyway justifiable.
Thatâs why my argument is rock solid and Iâll debate you into a pulp if you keep coming at me with flawed logic and reasoning.
Itâs neither an adage nor a legal maxim. Itâs a statement of opinion by the late Lord Denning, the man who refused to release the Birmingham Six (or the Guildford Four) on the basis that it would reveal an appalling vista of State malpractice. It should be taken with a pinch of salt. Plenty of soft cases have made bad law over the years as well.
You havenât debated anything - you just put forward your personal religious beliefs throwing out stupid statements like âgreater goodâ.
You donât debate, just move the goal posts and ignore questions that destroy your argument. Youâre great at dodging, not debating, thereâs a big difference.
No Iâm not. Thatâs what youâd like me to be doing.
@@glasagusban was engaging in glib, simplistic posturing and I was pointing out the dangers of that approach. In fact, It had already resulted in the 'so you âre ok with murdering dead babies argumentâ.
Hilarious irony, as you continually decide that you are the authority on what a person said or meant. Your regular deliberate misinterpretation of posts gives you endless pleasure.
As usual, you have a moral high horse and hours upon hours to fill and would love to debate some minutae as if you are some legal expert or indeed an authority on anything other than badly written âsatireâ.
Hard cases make bad law. Giving numpties like yourself months on end to debate them ad nauseum gives normal (ish)folk like myself a pain in the hole and then weâll vote how we like anyway. Enjoy the debate.
I didnât move goalposts. My coverage is wide and has taken in a bigger picture. I have taken the pros and cons. You are basing your verdict on a minority of terminated unborn children to justify it.
There are some really toxic misogynist views on this among right wingers. It it no surprise that the same people who were defending Hookâs apportioning of blame to a young girl for her own rape are the ones adamant that women shouldnât be allowed to make their own decisions here.
Theyâll invent a new cover story every time but the underlying philosophy is fixed.
Iâm not solely basing on a minority but just because they are a minority doesnât mean they donât have rights. Abortion is happening everyday - Irish women are travelling everyday to the UK - we donât even know the real numbers as some of them are going beyond the UK, and others are giving UK addresses ⌠there are even some ordering abortions pills online ⌠So we can all argue about when life begins until the cows come home and even vote no on the referendum, but it wonât stop thousands of abortions every year - all it will do is lead to later abortions as the records show that Irish women travelling to the UK have much later abortions. It will also create nothing but more emotional pain and suffering than these women already suffer and a failure by our state as they continue to just brush it under the carpet.
Itâs not all one night stands and cheap thrills and well you know it - trying to debase it to nothing more than sexual promiscuity or satisfying urges is a cheap shot - there are a host of reasons why women need these procedures other than the extreme of rape and the satisfying of needs.
By all means try and tackle it by more education - but itâs not all loose women or whores that @hbv has ridden getting abortions - that says more about how you view women than anything else â you are seriously threatened by them as is obvious by your posts over the years⌠but of course, youâll slap your mate HIV on the back and call him a stand up guy with quips about loving the sinner - but when itâs women you want them all burned alive.
When are people responsible or accountable for their actions?
Itâs odd that people focus on the minority of abortion cases to justify them when the majority of abortion cases are due to consensual, unplanned pregnancies.
I donât want to empower reckless and irresponsible people to deny the right to live for unborn kids.
