I’m not solely basing on a minority but just because they are a minority doesn’t mean they don’t have rights. Abortion is happening everyday - Irish women are travelling everyday to the UK - we don’t even know the real numbers as some of them are going beyond the UK, and others are giving UK addresses … there are even some ordering abortions pills online … So we can all argue about when life begins until the cows come home and even vote no on the referendum, but it won’t stop thousands of abortions every year - all it will do is lead to later abortions as the records show that Irish women travelling to the UK have much later abortions. It will also create nothing but more emotional pain and suffering than these women already suffer and a failure by our state as they continue to just brush it under the carpet.

It’s not all one night stands and cheap thrills and well you know it - trying to debase it to nothing more than sexual promiscuity or satisfying urges is a cheap shot - there are a host of reasons why women need these procedures other than the extreme of rape and the satisfying of needs.

By all means try and tackle it by more education - but it’s not all loose women or whores that @hbv has ridden getting abortions - that says more about how you view women than anything else – you are seriously threatened by them as is obvious by your posts over the years… but of course, you’ll slap your mate HIV on the back and call him a stand up guy with quips about loving the sinner - but when it’s women you want them all burned alive.

are you going to provide the breakdown of who exactly is getting them or are you just throwing about loose opinion?

I would counter that the majority of abortions are not due to rapes or medical grounds but due to unplanned pregnancies from people engaing in actions who weren’t ready to face the consequences.

There are some really toxic misogynist views on this among right wingers. It it no surprise that the same people who were defending Hook’s apportioning of blame to a young girl for her own rape are the ones adamant that women shouldn’t be allowed to make their own decisions here.

They’ll invent a new cover story every time but the underlying philosophy is fixed.

Much like the objections from the usual suspects in the US over the protests during the anthem, these views always come back to a fundamental belief in the primacy of the straight, white man and that society should be organised for the benefit of the straight, white man.

A feotus can’t survive on its own - it can’t have a right to life until it is an independent being which is at week 20/21, until that point, when it can survive outside the womb, it should have no rights - and if it does, they should be overridden by the mother’s rights up to that point.

unlike an awful lot of the permanently outraged little righteous pricks on here i was faced with this exact scenario 22 years ago. i know what im talking about. the child that was at that moment in time unwanted by the hormonal mother who was carrying it went on to have a spectacular childhood with a fantastic mother. i fought that tooth and nail and won and ill fight it again for the thousands of unborn childeren facing murder every year in ireland.
the rights of the unborn are more important than the righteousness of a group of utter fucking creeps within our society who are totally out of control feasting on the next just cause before moving onto the next without ever having to deal with the consequences of their shitty little actions.
