Everybody should vote SF in these elections as a fuck you to the west brit media, the PSNI and Enda Kenny. They’re only European and local elections anyway so they are meaningless malarky.

Whats really amusing me in the local elections is the sheer number of candidates running on a repeal the water charge mandate despite the local government having no say whatsoever in it.

Sinn Fein seem like the only alternative at this stage. They have fuck all by the way of policies and I’m not entirely sure whether they know themselves where they fit on Capitalism/Socialism/Communism spectrum, but fuck it I couldn’t vote for any of the rest of them.

Enda was a TD since 1975 and bar a short stint as Minister for Tourism had been a non-event for over a quarter of a century until he became FG leader in 2002. His elevation in 2002 had a lot to do with the fact that after the 2002 election the FG front bench was wiped out with Jim Mitchell, Alan Dukes, Jim Higgins, Alan Shatter, Nora Owen, Michael Creed, Charlie Flanagan, Frances Fitzgerald & Deirdre Clune all losing their seats. Throw in Ivan Yates retiring and Richard Bruton effectively ruled out as it was too soon for another Bruton leader after John and Enda was literally last man standing and got the gig by default.
