So the Soc Dems agreed with SF not to raise property tax, caving into them. Meanwhile Labour and the Greens have gone off and negotiated to do so with FF and FG.
Iām ok with LPT going up to improve services for Dublin. Thereās surely lots of opportunities to spend money and improve the city.
They can fuck right off though that a % of increased LPT in Dublin is siphoned off to other councils who minimise their LPT.

On this, interesting to see the numbers in action
In 2022 the 4 Dublin councils (Dublin, DLR, South Dub and Fingal) raised ā¬204 million in LPT
They had to pay 20% to other counties ie ā¬41 million
Then, they had to pay 43% or ā¬88 million to āreplace central funding for roads, housing etcā. The same counties that already are getting the 20% from Dublin do no get hit with this.
After all that only 37% of the LPT collected from Dubliners is available for āown useā ie for projects and services for the betterment of the locality.
37%!!! Thatās a sham

Dubliners get 37% of their LPT and Mayo payers get 189%
