Ireland politics (Part 2)

It’s a pity that Roche didn’t get the hotel planned built behind it alright but it has plenty of awards and was innovative for the time. I like it but everyone has different tastes.

profiteering

a tilted guinness can and a load of shit generic buildings, and thats before we go near the DDDA shenanigans

Which are what exactly?

Where are the “sites all over the city” for 6-8 floor buildings? How do they connect into the public transport infrastructure?

You have stated that you want Frank’s vision which is closer to Paris. I presented arguments on why that wasn’t possible but also that those arguments are based on aesthetics and not affordability. Please dispute that.

You have come back with nothing but mentioning Johnny Ronan.

He made a profit, so what?

It’s an award winning building designed by Kevin Roche. You can like or dislike it but those who judge aesthetics disagree with you.

Of course Fooley, we all know that your “profiteering” lines really comes down to good old NIMBYISM. Your previous objection to the excellent proposal to build more homes along prime public transport infrastructure in DĂșn Laoghaire attests to that.

he actually made huge losses, fobbed off on the taxpayer, or were you not watching. his intention is to make profit and squeeze as much out of prospective home owners and businesses as possible. i doubt theres a vocational/public service bone in his body

not homes, theyre build to let

so award winning architects cant make carbuncles. interesting idea

wonder where he got his inspiration

This kind of silly rhetoric is why there’s no point in replying to you. Most of your posts on this topic just seem childish and laughable to me to be honest.

In his career he made profits. That is what I thought you were raising.

You’ll be using the buzz (and racist) words like “transients” next.

Dublin has a chronic lack of studios and one beds vs. our European peers, many of whom rent.

You’re using the typical NIMBY language to deflect against developments. People like you are the problem, not the Johnny Ronans of the world.

It isn’t rhetoric.

You made a statement.

Back it up.

You can’t and as is typical with you, cry wolf at the person actually engaging in a real argument.

yes we need more jonny ronans

What we’ve established today is you don’t care about affordability.

Nope, the building got awards. You’re entitled to your view on it of course, but that’s all it is.

Uh huh. You and J-ro care about affordability.

Still can’t put an argument your statements and trying to cloak yourself in the caring cloak. We’ve already established with your salute or Frank’s fetishising of Paris that you value aesthetics over affordability.

Incoherent drivel.

Definitely. We need people willing to organise the capital to get things done.

We need less NIMBYs like yourself.
