Ireland politics (Part 2)

he is rushing it through because there is a housing crisis & nimbyism is slowing down the process of houses getting build, why do you think he is rushing it through?

Ive given you a quote from coveney on the dail record, which im fairly sure hasnt been corrected.

So he can rush through approval for non eco friendly houses and stop peple objecting to massive McMansions that are eyesores.

Are you in favour of that?

Nothing in that contradicts what I’ve said.

It clearly contradicts what youve said

You’re either being purposely obtuse or silly or you don’t insert how government works. Good day.

I dont insert???

Quite.

*understand (don’t know how predictive arrived at that typo)

I love a good civil servant scrap on here. A lovely bit of cut to proceedings

probably because you were at such a level of seethe after being so badly rattled and exposed.

We rely on them a fair bit for search and rescue.

Who’s the higher grade I wonder,I’d say @artfoley is a grade 6/7 and @glasagusban is grade 3.

While i appreciate the dig i think you may have this wrong. Think @artfoley was stymied a bit for a while but had a couple of jumps. @glasagusban has snuck around doing bits and is quietly ascending the ladder nicely. Either way if they are tfk they’ll be up the top in a few years. We’ll know when they have to stop posting and start deleting their tracks…

nope, i dont think i expressed favour for it, im contextualizing why he is doing it rather than your inane, its FF of the 8s comment

@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy trying to justify his local FF TD giving a leg up to builfing developers.

Quelle surprise.

Nope, we are in a housing crisis, i assume he feels this will get houses & apartments built

Buddy, it’s been proven the O’Brien doesn’t care where, how or why houses are built. It’s on the Dail record.

Just in time for FF to raise more election funds. How lucky.

Gene poolers brings it up over 50. The bulk of the Indos come from that background, or at least the votes they have been winning have been from FF/FG.

2011 was obviously important but particularly because FG tapped out and decided a large coalition with Labour was fine. If they had had killer instinct they would have gone for an overall majority or a smaller coalition partner/with Indos.

The fact that the Government there had such a large majority allowed for many TDs to peel off and sit happily as Independents for a while. A Labour Party as leader of the opposition probably would have gotten in as the majority party in - coalition in 2016.

2016 was really the seismic one though in my view. FF/FG still got nearly 50% of the vote (it dropped to 43% in 2020) and with gene poolers it was a good deal higher. I think if FF had tried coalition government they could have staved off Sinn FĂŠin long term. 2016 made it really pay to be an Indo and in 2020, dissatisfied FF/FGers really doubled down on voting Indo.

Will that persist next time out with the threat of SF? The polling numbers are not good for FF/FG but I struggle to see lower than 43% again. They might be more transfer friendly now they’ve been in power too. Of course the Greens will likely lose some of their soft vote back to FG.

2006 wants its narrative back.

Property development is a far different beast to the 2000s and they aren’t giving money to parties. They also aren’t giving money to a dying FF.

DOB sadly rolled back on some of Eoghan Murphy’s reforms in the of NIMBY/Twitter outrage so I’m not sure where you are getting this idea from.

Glas would be the more senior.
