Ireland politics (Part 3)

I’m not a business owner but if you’ve signed agreements and contracts I’m not sure you can just go and up prices as you wish… i presume with 8 trucks he’s not existing off adhoc business but long standing clients instead…

I’m giving this a like just to not let the bully’s win.

You obviously have skin in the game or are close to people who have and thats fair enough. But i don’t see too many ‘downtrodden citizens’ here though im sure there are some. Everyone is struggling with cost of living but they are not stopping people getting to work or hospitals. Finally this is the government you voted for and I’d say a massive percentage of the protestors did too.

Ended up not going through Tullamore but took a grand scenic route back up. I think about 3hrs45 driving time and a 35 minute stop. Went with the Google maps and up through Borrisokane but continued on the Athlone route then. Only blockade we encountered was Cloghan so we were rerouted by Belmont (?) and then back onto Ferbane. Was tempted to message @Bod95 to stick on the kettle but we avoided going back to the N52 and continued onto Kinnegad where I ticked yet another of big Pat McDonagh’s plazas off the list so I never have to go there again. Back up via Trim/Navan/Slane etc., into Dunleer and back onto M1 to home.

As I said to the Mrs, the only bright side of the thing was I didn’t pay any tolls today as opposed to my usual 3 :man_shrugging:t2:

The WhatsApp groups that normally give details on speed cameras and checkpoints have now morphed into live updates on the Diesel status of all the local petrol stations. It’s akin to toilet roll updates at the start of Covid.

It’s times like these that you truly find out which petrol stations appreciate your regular cager business. I didn’t need to top-up anyways but the warning phonecall was a lovely gesture.

Whoa now !

Independent Ireland TD’s O’Donaghue, Collins, Fitzmaurice and O’Flynn do not and never have supported the Government.

There are independents who do but the those wankers I’ve named are part of a party no less.

He’s an agricultural contractor ffs.

Fuel surcharges are common in haulage.

The problem is that hauliers tend to be idiots.

The Circle K up the road has no Diesel left yet has queues going into it. The Applegreen down the road has loads of Diesel left and no queues. People are sheep.

Will there be a Facebook Slogan Party set up?

Should there be?

“People are struggling…”

Has there ever been a time when people weren’t struggling?

“Oh, hadn’t thought of that…”

“People are ON THEIR KNEES…”

That could be too much watching online porn.

Thanks to the current FFG government the answers no.

Abbey Road would have been better.

I don’t take issue with anything else you said there really but people are going over the top with sensationalism about the army. The army was only to unblock key infrastructure like fuel depots and the oil refinery, this was really clear. That’s entirely reasonable and it’s ridiculous that the lads tried to blockade these in the first place.
