thats hardly news, sure you could go through most of the members of the judiciary and trace their political roots
Itâs hinting at a load of appointments left to Helen by her predecessor including Woulfe is my guess. Thatâs why she wonât take questions

I thought sheâd already said as much?
glasagusban:
I havenât been following this closely but listened to paschal donoguue on morning Ireland last week. The interviewer put it to him that the minister for justice is supposed to consult party leaders in government and the ministers for finance and foreign affairs before bringing a recommendation to cabinet. Did minister mcentee consult with you minister? No. At this point a decent interviewer would have gone after him. Instead it was an ok so and move on.
So itâs clear enough mcentee didnât even follow the procedure that was there. This should be a resigning offence, but same as Leoâs leak FF arenât strong enough to hold them to account. FG know this and so will try to brazen it out.
This is the worst government Iâve ever seen.
I take it that Miss McEntee who impressed you so much over the years hasnât impressed you so far as Minister for Justice?
Iâm all for questioning the ability, qualifications or usefulness of ministers but I disagree that he is more qualified for the post than McEntee. McEntee has been a junior minister for a long time has impressed everyone sheâs worked with and as her role grew massively in importance in recent years and she grew with it. She is therefore far more qualified to be a full minister than OâCallaghan who is a politician a wet week. OâCallaghan might have been a barrister but that does not necessarily make him best qualified to be a minister for justice, what experience has he of running anything? McDowell was a barrister and minister for justice and make a hames of it.
Big Jim is one of the top Senior Counsel in the Law Library. Iâd imagine heâs pulling in a 7 figure sum every year down there. Itâs a real shock that heâs not parking that for a few years to serve as Junior Counsel to a Minister for Justice, nearly 20 years his junior, new to Cabinet and with no professional legal qualifications.
The guy is in politics a wet week and expects to jump the queue to a full ministry because he earned a lot of money as a junior counsel? He has nothing on his CV to suggest heâs capable of running a ministry. The person â20 years his juniorâ has far more relevant experience, what a silly and ageist comment. This flute is a decade behind McEntee in terms of relevant experience.
Something brewing with Charlie Flanagan in todayâs indo.

There is a bus coming for Charlie. McEntee was on the radio pointing the finger at Charlie saying she got the list from the previous Minister of Justice.
Yeah because he was such a revered and respected character before thatâŚ
Are you âBig Jimâsâ PA?
