Ireland v Bulgaria - Both sides are riddled and Useless

He scored 9 goals in 38 games last season in League 2 and got farmed out to a Conference team  Exactly what we need

For reference Eoin Doyle scored 25 goals in League 2 last season and I don’t see anyone clamouring for his presence in the squad

He has scored 20+ a number of times over the years at that level I’d say

Himself and Padraig Amond would be a solid front pairing. Rooney as the impact sub off the bench

Where’s paddy madden these days?

Amond is a proven goal scorer in the world’s greatest domestic cup competition . Worth a look

In a struggling team playing terrible football, often as a sub. You are arguing using Wikipedia.

I’m arguing based on facts, you are arguing based on being friends with him

If you’re advocating a player gets called up to the senior squad you’ll want someone who can perform in a struggling team

i was too busy busy getting excited about the goings on in league C last night and missed the main coverage but in the highlights afterwards on TV3 ( tommy martin , Kerr and delaney are excellent BTW) did we see the first signs of spock getting thick with the media?
some harmless woman was asking him a few marty morrissey to cody post 2009 AIHF questions and at one stage he asked her to clarify a question and then left in a bit of a huff

Dan Macdonell is on paternity leave now and aidan fitzmaurice in the indo in his match report was not too complimentary in a very objective sense btw, im assuming cowzer et al and the rest of the anti o neill cabal are still coming out to bat for kenny but I think last night with ( and i checked this btw) v a bulgarian side with 6 domestic players, now please take into a/c graham carey plays for cska sofia to give an idea of their domestic standard and a few lads from the croatian and turkish second division for context.
all we needed was a win as the serbs and NI were doing us a favour to stay in pot 2 and we couldnt deliver- in fact from the highlights i would say the bulgarians were comfortable… i know we were depleted but so were they… and look i know our version of depletion is something quite bad…
he is still the boss tho and the bottom line is in a results business , things are not working out as of yet

agreed on doyle and almond tho- desperate times, etc - its like do you need a result or are you building for the future and those x2 lads playing at that level at that age definitely dont fall into the latter category

Last night was terrible.

It was like one of those Nations League nil nils at the end of O’Neill’s reign after things had really turned sour.

It was as bad as McCarthy’s two games against Gibraltar. It was worse than Ireland’s nil all in Georgia under McCarthy.

It wasn’t in the same ballpark as losing 5-2 to Cyprus, for example, but the signs remain worrying.

Now one thing that’s counted against Kenny is he hasn’t had a Gibraltar or Faroes or some bottom seed to kickstart his reign. 8 games have been 6 against similarly ranked Nations League sides, the Slovakia play-off along similar lines and then England who were a class above.

I’m confident we can turn things around in March.

you were very correct last night about the freedom friendly in 2014, the 4-1 over the US.
I attended that game as well and got loaded drunk but there was a certain joie de vivre about the whole thing and it really lifted the gloom post scotland and look 2015 was one of the most successful years ever in recent history for the team.
I know what you mean- last night we could have signed off on a high , it reminded me of the 0/0 in sept 2018 v denmark in the NL when cyrus the virus was in midfield and the FAI were giving kids free tickets to boost the crowd… MON was poisionous then…
we are not that far away now from those days…

look i cant wait for the WC draw… itll be fine i think
remind me for the 2014 qualfying campaign for euro 2016 - we were a third seed?
difference here with WC- only first place qualifies for 10 slots - the seconds go into series of playoffs for the remaining 3

Spain, Poland, Ireland, Albania and Cyprus. That’s my guess.

That would be a dream draw… We’d fancy our chances against any of that lot.

Ourselves and Albania would have a great battle for 3rd

When’s the draw?

7th of Decemeber

There will be five groups of six teams and five groups of five teams. Belgium, France, Italy and Spain are guaranteed to be in the five-team groups as dates have been set aside for their participation in the Nations League finals.

Basically fucked if you get in the 5 team group

Imagine a premier league manager took over and went 8 games without a win, 7 without scoring a goal and all (bar one) of the games were against fellow minnows?

Only the table topping first seed gets out??

Finally some matches of meaning.

Other than the Slovakia match of course.
