I’m going and I’d taken tomorrow off so I can go on the piss before and after the game.
Cue a phone call from the creche earlier. Young lad has gooey eye (conjunctivitis?) and needs to be collected. Policy is to keep him out for 2 days so I’ll have the boy with me all day tomorrow after a feed of pints later.
I’m very confused by how they decide who get’s a home leg in the playoffs.
This is from the same page on UEFA’s website
The highest-ranked team in each path will play at home against the country ranked fourth, with the nations placed second hosting the third-placed teams in the other semi-final.
Unlike previous play-offs, these will be single-leg knockout matches, with the highest-ranked teams hosting each semi-final. The host for each path’s play-off final will be drawn in advance on 22 November 2019.
Path A : Iceland , Bulgaria / Israel / Romania *, Wales/Slovakia/Republic of Ireland/ Northern Ireland ** Path B: Bosnia and Herzegovina , Wales/Slovakia/Republic of Ireland/ Northern Ireland **
**In the current scenario, a draw would decide which three of Wales, Slovakia, Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland would join Bosnia and Herzegovina in Path B, and which one would go into Path A.
So if I’m following correctly, Bosnia are guaranteed a home game because they won the group and the other three go into a draw and the ranking bit is a complete misnomer, as it’s ranking in the UEFA League thingy and none of the other three got through?
We could also end up in PATH A. Wouldn’t be a disaster really, it’s nearly easier.
I note UEFA have appointed the experienced Herr Brych for tonight’s game.
A less experienced ref might be more inclined to be swayed by a home crowd.
Hopefully he hates the Danes
