To be honest I wonder if Kenny spoke with a Derry accent and not a Dublin accent would he have been gone by now. I donât think his heritage has done him any harm but recognise itâs not straightforward.

Yeah I think Collins or Obamidele could definitely fulfil that cdm role. Will Smallbone must be knocking on the door for regular inclusion in that midfield 3. Heâs getting a regular run of games at Stoke in the championship.
Is Kenny a LOI type fella by choice though? He tried his hand in Scotland and didnât last long. He definitely could have obtained a League 1 type job after his success with Dundalk. But Michael Oâ Neill was a huge success with Northern Ireland and still âonlyâ wound up at Stoke. Would Kenny really have turned down an offer and stayed loyal to LOI if the likes of Norwich were in for him?
If Kenny represents an idea, itâs a fucking bad one.

Brian Kerr was given a chance and so was Kenny. If a successful candidate proves himself capable then i donât see why background would come into it. Why is it important that a Dub is in charge? Dublins soccer structures are so far removed from the rest of the country it might as well be Wales
If Kenny wasnât Irish he wouldnât be anywhere near the job. If we appointed an ex Dunfermline manager who had managed a team to the group stages of the Europa League there would not have been much support for his appointment. And he certainly wouldnât be persisted with after a miserable run of results and performances.
The idea that his background is working against him is absurd. A lad with a cockney accent with the same record would have been hounded out the door.
