OBEoneKeaneOBE OUT.
Sid, it really isn’t working, drop it.
McGeady and Hoolahan the obvious stand outs in that performance.
Coleman was particularly bad in an unconvincing back four. Midfield holding duo very quiet, though Whelan at least got on the ball in the first half. Long took his goal well but continues to look like he will miss a high percentage of straightforward chances.
A Serbian film was easier to watch than that shit!
Bugger.
Ratings please for those of us who were working in the Public Sector
Forde 6 - not much to do. Nearly caught out with an angled shot in the first half but recovered to touch it over. No chance with the goals
Coleman 4 - actually started brightly and had a decent first half. Was still sloppy in that period - does some arrogant stuff with Ireland that he doesn’t tend to do at club level. Nightmare in the second half. Naive offside attempt for the first goal and then was very slow and careless in possession for the second and barely tracked the ball outside him.
Ward 5 - couple of decent defensive interventions actually but gifted them the ball at least twice with appalling clearances
Keogh 6 - not embarrassed but hardly convincing. Stood off them a bit but got in a few tackles. Doesn’t look imposing.
Wilson 6 - not awful but not exactly a towering performance.
Clark (sub) - got a long enough run in the second half but did nothing.
Whelan 6 - relatively busy in the first half and at least got on the ball, even if he was limited with it. Faded completely when the system was changed in the second half. Didn’t get much help.
McCarthy 5 - barely kicked a ball. Unlucky with the og but doesn’t look like he wants to risk injury out there.
Meyler (sub) - didn’t do much in a team that had given up the ghost really.
Quinn (sub) - as above
McGeady 7 - persistent bright spark. Gave it away a few times but played a couple of nice passes and linked very well with Hoolahan in particular. Caused both their full backs (2 decent players) a fair few problems.
McClean 6 - persistent but not much happened for him.
Hoolahan 7 - took a while to get involved but then played some decent passes to Long in particular and was very good with the ball. Taken off fairly early.
Long 6 - took his goal well and worked really hard but his finishing is embarrassing really.
Walters (sub) 5 - painfully slow.
Murphy (sub) - no thanks.
Pilkington (sub) - not involved.
Score lads? How did England go, any injuries?
You’ve been incredibly kind to Ward there Rocko, but no arguments with the rest really.
Ireland lost 2-1 Mark.
I thought Wes was an inner city lad? He doesnt have a very ah heeyor leave irouh accent.
Markovic seemed to be a constance threat for them.
Kolarov smashed the Oirish.

Wes votes in the Dublin North Central constituency. I know because I was standing outside the polling station on North Strand when he pulled up in his Land Rover on the day of the last elections. Big vehicle, small man. He did well tonight.
I’d be giving Curtis Davies a call if I was MON. And praying one of the young lads like Doherty, Duffy or Egan will blossom soon. Dunne will be 35 in September and O’Shea is 33 next month and that defence tonight was an absolute circus.
And we have loopers claiming 2nd spot is between us and poland as if we are better than scotland
Why isn’t sean scanall on the team?
And we have loopers claiming 2nd spot is between us and poland as if we are better than scotland
When girlie ball pundits say they fancy a player it means they think he is quite good at playing the game, one of your circle saying they fancy sean scannell may not be about his ability to kick a ball. I think that may be where you are getting confused
Possibly because he is black.
We will easily finish second in our group.
Because he’s not good enough. I’d give his team-mate Adam Hammil a go, though. He’s as good, if not better, than McClean.
Just saw brief highlights on SSN.
Looked like the guy in the bottom of the picture was playing Hoolahan onside for the early disallowed goal. Presume this is the incident that Houghton was being ridiculed for - he was talking utter shite in the background and was completely wrong in his interpretation.
Coleman seemed to be poor for both of the conceded goals.
