As an aside, I managed to get the rte app on my phone and listened to the second half whilst cycling home. The commentating was top class. Brian Kerr is a fantastic co-commentator. He is knowledgeable, fair and warm, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The punditry afterwards was good too. Itâs a cut above anything the ingerlish have.
Kerr thought a draw was a fair result.

He is the best soccer commentator I have yet heard on radio or TV. Should be used for everything.
The BBC or SKY should be after him big time.

McCarthy was poorâŚWalters not fitâŚwhen we got Wes on the ball we played some lovely stuffâŚthought subbing him was the wrong decision, we did nothing after that. Played well for 55 or so minutes and a fair result in the end.
McCarthy was poor for the goal, but I donât think he necessarily had a bad game.
He was harshly criticised on RTE by Dunphy imo.

I think Dunphy was correct. What else did they say? Did they question Wes going off?

I think he put in a decent shift in the first half in particular, got a lot of tackles in. Dunphy was out of orderâŚsaid he should look for a day job at one stage along etc.
Also mentioned he got his manager sacked at Everton.
The results only started when OâNeill sent Keane to the bench where the assistant should be and he ditched the suit for the tracksuit, so go fuck yourself.

McCarthy has talentâŚjust doesnât get involved enough for meâŚbut I think he will start again next day.
McCarthy will be kept in the team, we donât have a option to replace him. Meek and gutless as he is he is still a far better player than Quinn and Meyler.

We donât have a better option, he puts in a shift and has a better engine then the alternatives.
Was very impressed with Glenn tonight, thought he had a fantastic game. For a limited player athletically, heâs some pro.

Iâm feeling far more upbeat this morning, despite a mild hangover. While last night may have been two dropped points, it was a fine performance on the whole from a generally limited group of players. Its a shame we didnât see it out, but its all to play for in the group and we can be proud of our boys. Great to see the likes of Wes turn it on at as big tournament, what a moment for him.
