Tonight was a poor game . Reminded me of the games v Scotland in last campaign . Both sides are very average . MON has Ireland very very hard to beat .

Henrik Larsson, on the face of it from tonight, had a much worse break. What did he do after?
Colm cooper had one of the worst ACL’s you can have. He has done ok.
If its a clean break, as ugly as it looks, he would probably be back for start of next season. If its a vreak and ligament damage then a year. But career ending??? What tackles do we know if ended careers lately?
Big plus for us although he wasn’t hectic in the first game. Still better not to be facing a player of his quality.

Any tackle where a player’s lower leg ends up snapped in two like that is a potential career ender for obvious reasons. The pace Coleman was going at and thus the increased impact won’t have helped.
Even more potentially, it’s a tackle which can mean that even if a player does return, they never get back to the level they were previously at. Psychological damage which takes the edge off a player can occur.
Even if they do reach the level they were previously at, it can take a long time.
Coleman is 28 and no longer young in football terms.
Recoveries like Henrik Larsson’s are very much the exception.

Anyone who has played the game knew instantly that was a horrific challenge.

Whelan did well tonight but he won’t get a handier shift than tonight as Ledley and Allen are as slow as a wet week in Ballybunion . Tonight was tailor made for him .

As usual you just roll out general media/pub talk that actually has very little modern basis.
