Ireland v Wales - March 24th 2017

Magic.

Legend .

not sure about the fuss w.r.t. Rooney
Ive never seen him play but at the level he does (his club side were beaten by a team from Luxembourg in this season’s Europa League) then there is a a case for “seani” to be included also

friday’s game has a very high potential to be a horrendous game of football that will more than likely be settled by a Bale free kick or a 25 yard rocket
Hourihane wont feature, its simply not in MON’s mindset to spring a change like that,
he is ok with us been devoid of anything creative, i think ure pretty close to the starting xi there, the only thing that could make it worse would be Murphy starting
he’ll spring o’dowda (if he is in the squad) if we need a spark with 15 minutes to go
they dont like McGeady, its pretty well known,

MON doesn’t like McGeady?

He used to bring him on when he was playing absolutely shit, he’ll surely give him a chance from the bench when he’s in flying form.

no, they have little time for him
his cameos are few and far between at the moment
the assistant manager let the gaurd down at a press conference recently about what he really thought,

Whatever about Keane, MON clearly has a lot of time for McGeady

A great piece of management from the asst manager as you call him. The turnaround in form of Aiden has been noticeable

McGeady was getting those cameos when he wasn’t playing at all at club level. He’s in excellent form now and will certainly get a run on Friday night. He might even start with the absences we have.

Hoolahan has been formally ruled out now.

Daryl Murphy is the latest major doubt.

McCarthy is only joining camp tonight.

no way, its too much risk and a departure from the norm
the current partnership do not entertain that at all
notwithstanding ( cc @Bandage ) his upturn in form at PNE that is great to see BTW, his cameos in a green shirt thruout the last campaign were woeful ( tblisi 2014 aside of course) , they did leave a mark, he’ll get 15 mins off the bench if needed i’d imagine

I’d be dead set against McGeady starting. As you say, he’s been brutal for Ireland since the game in Tblisi in September 2014. Lighting up the EFL doesn’t necessarily translate to being primed to star in a pivotal international fixture.

McGeady always strikes me as the type who plays fantastically in training and absolutely bamboozles defenders with his skill and tricks. But then he wilts when he crosses the white line in a competitive fixture. He reminds me of the skilful corner forward who kicks a load of points in gaelic football training after displaying an array of dummies and flicks but then gets blown away in a match and is called ashore after being completely ineffective.

How many caps does he have now? Late 80s? 90? He’s invariably been shit bar a handful of good games. It’s a case of 87 times bitten, 88th time shy for me. I wouldn’t involve him on Friday.

He’s a show pony. One for the last 25 mins when the hard work is done and the defenders have tired

His player rating from the weekend doesn’t suggest he’s changed all that much

“Aiden McGeady 6 Endured a frustrating afternoon until he popped up in the 93rd minute to earn North End a point.”

Where are the TFKBIG society meeting before hand?

A career summed up in a nutshell, albeit at least there was an end product on this occasion. I suppose you’ll have that at a lower level.

Conversely enough he’s usually quite poor from the bench (as @mickee321 alluded to) even though you’d think it would suit a wide attacker. He’s got a bit of an ego and an over inflated sense of self worth so he doesn’t react well to not starting. Plus he’s usually very wasteful and has little end product so it naturally follows that he produces even less if he spends fewer minutes on the pitch.

Have you picked your preferred 11 yet mate? Looks like we’ll be very short on creativity (as per usual). Hopefully we still set out to have a go at them, I hate it when we try and sit back as we aren’t particularly good at it.

yes?
