Just watching our goal again.
- Whelan does really well to win a header on half way
- Knocks it to Hendrick at the edge of the centre circle who lays it off to Brady on halfway
- Brady takes on two men and beats them for pace and fires in a low pass to Long.
- Longâs first touch goes about 10 yards backwards and he loses a slide tackle for the ball
- Ball comes off a Georgian defender and Brady wins it back again.
- Long tries to get in the way but Brady turns him and then lays it off wide to Hendrick.
- Hendrick does the rest from there by beating 2 men, then the #3 and Walters to be fair shows good strength to hold off his man at the back post who is trying to come through him.
Lesson from this: Brady and Whelan did well in the build-up. Long canât control a football. Hendrick has lovely feet. He plays the way I imagine @Nembo_Kid would.

I thought Ireland were very good in the second half. Coleman and Brady showed real leadership. Whelan and Walters really good as well. Lovely stuff from Hendricks for the goal. We got what we deserved.
Best performance under OâNeill for me. Donât understimate how difficult it is to break down an international team from a traditionally strong basis with a much larger footballing population than us. I donât think I could ask anymore from Ireland tonight.

We havenât been impressive under MON so maybe it was our best performance. I thought we were awful in the first half. They are a decent defensive team but thatâs why you have to take the game to them. Our idea of causing disruption seemed to be to play the ball long. Thatâs not going to trouble a reasonable defence.
We were better in the second half and had a bit more urgency but I think itâs alarming that we could see we were creating chances from out wide but we left Hoolahan on and left our midfield too narrow. A win tonight was absolutely crucial and I think we went about that slowly and didnât capitalise on the obvious way of troubling their defence.

Robbie Brady was a bombscare early on but ended up having a very good game.
Wanted Hendrick to be taken off for either McClean or McGeady before his fantastic intervention for the goal.
Walters has a great attitude and is a very likeable sort.
I thought you were harsh on OâShea, @Rocko. Did fine apart from the early misplaced pass that led to a dangerous attack.
Given looks old and decrepit. I can envision him taking too long to clear and being dispossessed in one of the remaining games.
I thought Long did okay but he did fresh air that chance to make it 2-0.
The Georgia #10 was brilliant again, like on Friday. They were pretty handy and it helped that they went down to 10 when 23 got injured late on.
Overall, not sure about this diamond formation. It needs Hoolahan to play well but he was average enough. As Kerr said in The Irish Times, weâll probably revert to 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 for Germany. Great result though.

We have the pick of Ireland, half the north, and millions of 2nd and 3rd generation plastic paddies in Engerland and Scotchland.
He also got turned really easily in the first half but Coleman bailed him out by getting back to rescue the situation. And he let that #10 lad roll him a couple of times. I think heâs also much too slow with the ball at his feet. He canât pick a pass and ends up just firing the ball randomly vaguely forward at head height which is killing us.
