20 years without a decent highlight, dark days indeed

I expect the five chosen for the shortlist will be:

Arcel the wonder horsey
One of the Dublin v Kerry 1977 or 1978 matches, I’ll go with 1977
John Treacy
Moooossther
Don Givens’ hat trick

The shortlist was read out on Morning Ireland this morning

And it is?

Pretty similar to your list from what I recall

The average age of the attendees of this would be 70+ so their social media skills will cost it in the voting process

The average age of attendees at all other events on the list is probably 70+.

And crucially, 234,000 people who hadn’t yet been born attended Thomond Park on October 31st, 1978.

You didnt mention anything about the attendees of the other sporting events voting

Ger Loughnane on fire here.:clap:

This won’t end well mate.

They’ve 54% of the vote already.

Joke of a sporting country if winning a friendly wins sports moment of the decade.

They should have got Tom Ryan on for this show

Based on what has happened over the last few weeks, the Eire soccer win over the Soviet Union in a European Championship qualifying game in a campaign where Eire ultimately failed to qualify has to have a big chance of prevailing.

A fucking horse

Nothing else of note happened in that era, it was a very very bleak time in Ireland.
