May be trickier when she doesnât have a bed but you should be able to drop stuff at the door/reception for her once itâs in a closed bag or envelope. Thatâs my experience at least.
Whats happening with the father of newborns during this thing is a fucking disgrace, especially if the baby has to be kept in to be monitored if there are any issues Hold their child for a few minutes in the maternity ward after birth and told to clear off then.
Itâs not ideal, but in the standard scenario itâs doable. If God forbid there was something, even a small thing, wrong with the child itâs criminal to keep a parent away
The only way youâll get seen promptly in there is by kicking and screaming.
For most people they hate making a scene and being perceived as âawkwardâ. When the consultant or doctors are doing their rounds tomorrow give them both barrels in a firm way without losing the rag. Lay out the facts and embarrass them into action - âIâm three or four days in here and at the end of my tether, can you please let me know when my scan is going to take place. If you donât know can find someone who does and revert to me ASAP as this inordinate wait is causing great distress to me personally and also to my family.â (Fully appreciate thatâs easier said than done when youâve an ill vulnerable lady on her own against endless doctors and consultants and specialists etc)
The buck passing in the health service has to be seen to be believed. Take no guff off them, theyâll fob you off as long as they get away with it.
Hope it all works out for her. Absolutely hate hearing stories like that.
My pal does med neg law. He said once you go into hospital you need to park your regular personality and be hyper assertive and pain in the arse - otherwise everybody else who is will get seen over you and you can fall into the cracks
A lot of stuff he says happens when people know thereâs an issue but are afraid to say to a doctor or think doctor knows more than they do
