A chair in a and e. 3 of us in a cubiclw normally used for a bed. Bed gone. 4 chairs. I’m lucky, mine is an armchair. Gonna be a long night.
I might have a couple for Turf Paradise later
Do it. Im in on colo colo ht/ft as is…
In. Night on a chair in A and E. However, as @Rocko will attest, I’ve spent years honing an ability to sleep literally anywhere and it has served me well here. The degenerate chancer in me meant i spotted an empty cubicle and nicked in there in the middle of the night. My chairmates from last night were not impressed. Jealousy is a terrible thing.
Moved to a new armchair in a new holding pen this morning. One room, 12 armchairs in 12 phone box cubicles, Mostly people who came from a and e last night. The good thing is, the early bird gets the scan so i should at least have answers shortly.
On a side note, it’s a horrendous system… last night was a good night apparently, and there was a tonne of people far sicker than me stuck on chairs, many of them here 16/17 hours before last night. Getting answers nearly impossible. Nurses/doctors barely having time to be civil to patients.
Hang tough. That’s not easy.
Ah its grand. Got an irish times and a copy of the phoenix this morning. Had a disastrous go at the cryptic yesterday. Embarrassing compared to my performance of yesteryear. Will have a decrnt run at it today.
Sounds like we need a few more IT consultants in there.
Some light reading
My young lad took a bad fall Wednesday evening playing basketball. Gash on shoulder and hurt his finger
It was very sore on Thursday so we decided to get an X-ray. Booked VHI new clinic in Carrickmines. X-ray and his (broken) finger splinted and we were on way home again in 40 minutes. 75 euro.
They provide a great service in these private clinics. Baffles me why the HSE don’t outsource patients down there when they have queues
Cheap at the price, good to hear it’s not a whole lot. Broken fingers are a Thing of nothing
It says a lot about the Health Service when it makes more financial sense for the VHI to operate and staff their own clinics rather than pay out on the HSE charges.
Because they select the patients. They want people who can walk in and walk out. If the HSE could cherry pick their cases too it would cost them a lot less.
Aye, the VHI swiftcare wouldn’t be much use to you if you had a heart attack.

Exactly. So they should cherry pick the easy cases and outsource them and give them way more time to deal with the tricky stuff. Fellas waiting 12 hours with a broken finger while the staff battle serious cases is a pure joke
Those small scale truma clinics are perfect for those cases. A&E at big hospitals should be for serious issues that cant be handled in a small clinic. Ive used the LAYA one in limerick and Affidea or whatever its called in cork. Ideal for stiches, broken digets and nose
My old lad got a bang on the head there a few years back and was told he had to go for a scan and sent to CUH. We sat down next to a young fella about 17 who had broken his arm playing football and had been there 3 hours already. My old man left eventually 12 hours later after seeing no doc and the young lad still waiting for the results of his x ray
Madness i think the one in cork does xrays alright. A&E dhould be either refferals from small clinic or genuine emergency. Injuries like that should clog up emergency departments. Same tp be said with alcholocs or people off their game on drugs
