On reflection I think the fat lady sings were the best Irish band of that era
Arclight is a great song. I don’t think their albums stand up.
Power of Dreams and Whipping Boy had all the songs to make it much bigger.
100 Ways to Kill a Love is as good a song about teenage angst as you’ll hear.
I’d dispute that, the two main gar lady sings album had barely a bum track between them, the second album ‘Johnson’ is a masterpiece IMO
Whipping boy were just amazing, I felt they came along in the next wave after the likes of 4 of us and far lady sings
Heartworm is close to perfection
Going to be re-released on vinyl this year.
I’ve the first pressing, limited edition blue vinyl from way back when. Picked it up second hand at a record fair in Cork about 20 years ago
I’ll pass that on to Nick the next time I see him.
Pillow Queens on Tim’s listening parties tonight at 8pm
As opposed to free stater’s,in case anyone got confused, that particular group was anti treaty
They’re a tidy outfit, they were packing out the Roisín there for a while and were swiftly whisked off to London by Alan McGhee. I had forgotten all about them to be honest
Alan probably needs to go back on the booze if that’s what he’s signing now.
Unkind and unfair. No band is the finished product on getting a deal. It’s an investment. These guys are more polished than most at that age and with the right guys behind them have every chance
Creation Stories, the Alan McGhee biopic; is out this week
Everything post Loveless was a letdown to be honest
It’s a world of fiction he said himself
Be a good watch though
He’d be doing well to remember most of it I’d say
Fair comment.
Like football managers. No time to grow these days.
