And in the UK people are entitled to say the same about Poppy fascism, which they do
It doesnât stop the fact that in the UK as in Ireland, there is an unwillingness to discuss these issues sensibly. Every country has that element to the national psyche, the lack of self awareness is staggering
Look mate, you can think you are teeing me up in order to put across your opinion but sure thatâs all you are doing, putting across an opinion. Whatâs to say that Britain were to do nothing and let Hitler away with it? Or is it the fact that Britain entered the war against nazi Germany, ended up on the side that âwonâ and I use that term loosely as there are no winners with war. The poles had to lose many millions and be ruled over for another 45 years or so to get to where they are now. In the greater scheme of time they got to where they wanted to be. But sure this is only my opinion and is no less or more than yours.
So listen mate, chill out a bit, thereâs more to life than trying to be an online hard man, give the missus a kiss and a cup of tea with a biscuit.
I was in central London around this time last year, and myself and the mrs kept being told by whoever we met while we were seeing the sights to go take a look at the Poppys around London Tower.
We both had zero interest and went into a restaurant about 500 metres away without even giving it a second thought.
I donât remember there being any talk of all this 10-15 years ago, could of being that I only had RTE back then. Maybe better days when you think about it though.
Poppys, Shamrocks the whole thing absoluty bores me to tears. I take mo offence to any of it. I dont get offended when I see the poppy just as Im sure no English person would get offended by an Irish person wearing a shamrock on Paddys day.
But those orange sashes. Now thats a whole different storyâŚ
