Irish People Poppy Watch

He can do this but can’t wear the Poppy ffs like

Albion winger James McClean has bought a disabled girl a hand-trike to help her get around.

After seeing Kaylee Sweeney’s family trying to raise money for the bike on Facebook the Irish international stepped in and offered to pay the full £1,500 himself.

That was back in September, but now the makers of the bike have handed it over to Kaylee, a young girl from Derry who suffers from Spina Bifida.

“Her family had received amazing support from her local community in Derry including an incredibly generous donation from West Brom Premier League star James McClean.

“With the current mild weather Kaylee can get out to play and this particular model allows Kaylee to use her arms to power her trike while providing movement in her legs.

“This will make such a difference to Kaylee’s day to day life.”

McClean, who was brought up in Derry and played for Derry City before joining Sunderland, was called a “class act” by family member William Sweeney.

What a bizarre comparison to make.

Anything else on Sky News this morning buddy?

Today we remember the victims of all wars. Lest we forget. Was coming through waterloo there. The place came to a standstill. Incredible shows of respect

Reminiscent of when news of Jade Goody’s death came through.

not really fussed about this whole debate thing over the poppy, but how is comparing the IRA’s actions the same as comparing the British Armys actions? Is there a flower of commemoration to support and pay for the IRA? How can a government paid army on foreign soil be compared to a volunteer force army who were seeking independence.

The IRA and the British army did cuntish things. But only one of them is looking for people to give charity money and to wear a symbol of support.

My understanding is that Poppy money doesn’t go to the British Army but rather to charities associated with veterans etc.

Used the Easter Lily be a similar thing for Republicans? Perhaps @Fagan_ODowd or @ChocolateMice would know more.

Easter lilies.

Was it the navy jumper what did it?

If this doesn’t earn you a “nice post” award then the game’s gone.

semantics on the Army/veterans. So be it, the premise is the same.

And how is the Easter lily related to the IRA disappeared or the Troubles?

I’m not sure how it is - that’s why I asked the question - but I presumed there was some link. I’m pretty sure it’s not related to the IRA disappeared though - it may be related to those who did the disappearing …

you would hope so, imagine raising monies for touts and traitors

An English chap in work wondered aloud at around 10.53am whether the office would be observing the silence at 11am.
