Whatā€™s wrong with starting a sentence with and?

Itā€™s lazy writing

Telling a Republic lad from the north to consider wearing a poppy. HIS a horrible cunt. And donā€™t start a sentence with And.

Are you drunk? :joy:

If we countered all this Poppy-related hysteria with having our own commeration, with a Bank Holiday of course, to celebrate the Irish people who died in the line of military action be it for the Irish army, the fight for Independence or with the Irish Army in the line of peace-keeping duties weā€™d go a long way to shutting down the bullshit.

How would it go down James McClean wearing s symbol like a Pike, Geese or Harp to celebrate the Irish military dead?

I think @RaymondCrotty will be very happy with this article.

I dont really give a fuck about lads wearing the poppy really ā€“ itā€™s the coercion to wear it that annoys me. Itā€™s simply militaristic nationalism - they preach about defeating Nazism and give it large about freedom then condemn you to death for not wearing a poppy. Iā€™ve said it before, my own grandfather was at Dunkirk, joined up himself to fight against fascism but I donā€™t see the need for Irish men to support the militaristic nationalism now associated with the poppy ā€” having our own day would be good -(think it was shot down by Kenny) but Irish people will still feel forced to wear one in a public sphere in the UK.

Just walking around London last week you can see that itā€™s a ā€œwhiteā€ thing. Young people donā€™t wear them. Businessmen tend to prefer the little metal badges.

Thereā€™s a real identity crisis in the UK at the minute - youā€™d need your head examined to be bringing up children over there at the minute

When I was a teacher in Ireland I used to do debates around the wearing of a poppy with children in upper primary. They then had choice of weather to make a red poppy, white poppy or no poppy at all (during art). Some chose not to make anything, a few chose red and the majority chose white. Children had some interesting opinions on it as is often the case with contentious issues.

Yeah but if it was held on the same day as the UK and US commemorations then they could excuse themselves by wearing the relevant symbol from their home country.

Canā€™t see it happening under a Fine Gael-led government but there might be some hope if Fianna FĆ”il get in.

Nah - weā€™ve fought no wars and are a neutral country - Weā€™ll never have a remembrance day

This has really only come in in the last decade or so. Who is pushing it? Is it the media in the UK that is pushing it? Seems on Sky sports that itā€™s part of the dress code that you must wear a poppy. I wouldnā€™t half the cunts on TV, Football teams or whatever donā€™t even buy the poppy. I doubt half of them even realise they are wearing a poppy or what it is for.

Itā€™s being pushed by mice, mate- They run complex experiments from their laboratories unbeknownst to humans who think they are running complex experiments on mice in these same labs.

Weā€™ve fought no wars???

Rigghhtttt crazy person.
