Irish Player Watch 2012/13

A dead sound bloke. Had the potential to play at a much higher level but not sure if he never got the breaks or just wasn’t that bothered. Was far better than Doyle when both of them were on the underage Wexford teams.

Leighton Gleeson is possibly the most gifted central midfielder Wexford has ever produced and has played a starring role in the engine room of Courtown Hibs teams and county teams for many years. Widely recognised as consistently the best passer in the Wexford game, his remarkable sporting vision allows him to see passes, and execute them, while the opposition is still trying to figure out his next move. He also has a keen eye for a finish as he proved when nabbing a hat-trick, as captain, for the county’s Oscar Traynor team during their 6-0 drubbing of Clare in the 2010 final. He was on the books of Saint Patrick’s Athletic for a while but soon realised that Wexford was where he wanted to be. A Junior international, he won his first cap against Northern Ireland and was part of the Irish amateur team which lost to Portugal in the Nations Cup final last year. At 30 years old, Leighton still has plenty in the locker - a worthy winner of Wexford’s greatest soccer player, as chosen by you.

please see the above post as a correct example of format and relevant details
min criteria for watching ( or in most cases hearing about) is that said player is involved in some lower english league game and invariably will come on as a sub.

[robbed from Twitter] First senior Watford goal tonight for Ireland U19 defender Tommie Hoban, a highly rated centre half who has come through their academy [/robbed from Twitter]

Daryl Murphy scored for Ipswich tonight I believe.

belter of a post there

Noel Hunt on target for Reading.

He looked like he was celebrating a silver medal in the special Olympics there when he was celebrating that goal

Seamus Coleman playing at right back for Everton today. Has been really poor. Doesnt know whether to get tight to players or stand off. Got in a right mess for the first goal. Everton badly missing Gibson in midfield. Neville playing in there has been anonymous. Good chance Neville might move to right back for the second half.

Irish international James McCarthy has been ok so far for Wigan. Never see him much on the ball or looking for it for that matter but has made a few nice interceptions.

Corry was the best player on the park tonight in the wednesday - leeds game

David Macmillian scored a brilliant goal for UCD against Rovers tonight, id advise watching MNS , its goal of the season stuff.

UCD really produce some great players, Greg Bolger is also going places

Mickee is it ok if I post here that Shane Long has scored against the Champions ©?

Good finish?

Not watching. He was pulled down through on goal earlier for Milner’s sending off so seems to be causing trouble.

Here’s his goal:

http://videos.sapo.pt/54sp29CYKeOVPZ32vJWA

O’Shea getting plenty of abuse from the Sunderland fans for ridiculous hoofs every time he gets the ball. Keeper has just bailed him out after some appalling defending on a through ball.

McClean very quiet but had one nice run just now.

The great John O’Shea heads home an equalizer.

I’m calling it an own goal.

Surely a Ba own goal?

McLean is predictably one footed.

Ah yeah it was going wide alright.

I see James Shea is on the bench for Arsenal tonight. From what I recall of him in Football Manager he is eligable for Ireland. Don’t know if he has represented us underage

Enda Stevens starts for Villa against United.
