Has Ireland ever had a professional domestic rugby league?

No

Wales have played in 1 World Cup in 1958 and that squad did not contain a player from the Welsh Domestic League.

I read that particular piece of information about Eire before the 2014 World Cup. Both of the two new participants in 2018, Panama and Iceland had squad members from their domestic leagues.

Wales had any number of players in their squad on their lone appearance in 1958 playing for Cardiff City and Swansea City including two of their top players Ivor Allchurch and Mel Charles.

I took the liberty of looking up the position pertaining to Canada. Canada’s goalkeeper for their opening match against France at the 1986 World Cup, their lone World Cup appearance, Paul Dolan was playing for the Edmonton Brickmen.

Hey @GeoffreyBoycott guess what…the ground football lads are deflecting by bringing up rugby again. You coukd set your watch by them

Cardiff City and Swansea Town both played in the English Football League in 1958 Geoff. Swansea City didn’t exist until 1969.
