The Duffy bashers are gone very silent lately, ironically one of the main instigators was very vocal about mental health. Form is temporary lads…
I have a theory on him…
I know he was garbage at Celtic but at Celtic they are biggest team. Always favs etc. Onus on them to attack and play from back with him etc.
That’s not him. He’s a dog of a defender. Better at lesser side. QED

That’s partly true I’d say. But he was murder for Celtic last season when we had our backs to the wall and defended deeply. We didn’t get to play out from the back much.
He lost all confidence and sliced everything and played everyone onside all the time by dropping behind the line to cover for his nervousness. He was very easy for other clubs to expose and even his aerial strength became a weakness when he was dealing with balls deliberately targeting him. A nice chap though. But the extra physicality in Scotland killed him more than any pressure to play out from the back.

Even when Duffy was stinking it out at Celtic, he remained a likeable sort. A truly alright sort. I don’t disagree with what’s been said above, but I think the shambles Lennon was overseeing last season made it difficult for anyone to come in and make a positive mark. He suffered the well publicised sudden bereavement of his Dad, who was only in his 50s, and that was meant to have hit him badly. Then there was Covid complications too - not able to properly integrate into the squad and form connections with other players because of the rules/restrictions (aside from poolside pints in Dubai mid season). All the while going through these rough personal struggles in a new city with a lack of support.
