We’re really stuck for a proper creative midfielder. However, they don’t exactly grow on trees.

A top striker can make up for a lot of shortcomings. Robbie Keane was limited in many ways, but you put him in this current team and he’d pilfer goals out of half-chances.

I admit that goalscorers of Robbie’s calibre are rare too, but it seems we’re more likely to produce one of them in the short term than a a proper creative midfielder.

But obviously if we don’t have a creative midfielder, we shouldn’t play a style of football that probably needs one. A couple of tricky wide forwards and a central forward who can hold up the ball and get the odd goal could do.

Not sure if anyone saw this. Sums up Keane fairly well I think.

Wha? Very, very raw … He’s quick and strong but his touch would have to have come on tonnes since LOI days.

Exactly.

The Irish have an awful obsession with Roy

Jack Byrne, is he championship level quality?

Have we given up on Joe Hodge we have?

He’s the one. But he could be at City until he’s 22/23 before they decide whether they want him to play or not.

didnt he flop at scumdalk?

No

He’s gone to Wolves. Had a lot of injuries

wonder why famous GGA journalist Tom Humphries was so intent on ruining Irelands WC 2002 campaign

Darren Randolph had a very productive international break despite the snub from Kenny.

I actually thought you’d mention that one. How did it play out was one fella in for a year or two then the other or what?

3 or more years out of LOI, much improved.
