Thats how he may understand it ir indeed is diluting to public.
Players do not have to know exactly why they do what they do.

You’re not making any sense. Guardiola tells his players exactly where to stand until they get to the final third. If that isn’t a formation then what is?

Thierry Henry was finished playing when he was talking about it. Its easy to see when you watch them play that Guardiola tells them where to stand and both Henry and De Bruyne have confirmed that. The wide players stay really wide, the player at the base of the midfield plays in the centre and the two other centre midfielders are further forward but are also very wide when the team has the ball

You’re tying yourself up in knots here. It doesn’t have to be ground breaking. It is absolutely a traditional formation. He is the worst possible example of a coach not using formations that you could use.

You would have an understanfing that players often have little knowledge of whats going on and that you may have to dumb things down for players.
And indeed in some cases the less they know the better
