Irish soccerball nil - That boy Bazunu will save us (Part 1) 🐐

We’re picking from players in the championship and mostly the lower rungs of the premier league.

No, go on, name a few

There no irish players for the top clubs in the premiership anymore which is the top league in the world

O’Neill can motivate a team but is unbelievably clueless tactically. If some alco in the pub suggested taking off your two midfielders at half time you’d be laughing at him for an hour. Considering how easy it is to qualify for the Euros these days we still have a decent chance of qualifying next time

The thing about club football is you can build the team that you want, you can recruit the players that suit your style.

In international football, you have to go with the hand your dealt. When it comes to technical footballers Ireland are at a very poor base.

Because we are losing young players until they are mid 20s and they have to fight their way back up the lower leagues - How do we keep players from the swamp that is English academies and still develop them?

Srfc academy
Cark academy

Other clubs need to step up

O’Neill at 120K per match should be accountable. The oirish are great lads to absolve accountability in case someone gets offended.

most clubs are barely hanging on - no investment or support from FAI

Naturally they are, they have control over the type of players who fit the bill for what they are doing. Irish players fit a criteria for their club, usually work horses or imposing centre halves. Only Duffy, Hendrick, Ward and Clark play regular top flight football in that Irish side. That’s the main issue.

If Ireland go out and try and play a more open and technical game with sides, they will be embarrassed. Being dogged, organised and physical is the approach which suits Irish football, I don’t understand the demands placed on Ireland to play a different style of game when it will not allow Ireland to be competitive. What allows Ireland to be competitive is bringing teams down to their level.
