League Failure: League promotion final: Beaten by Clare (at home in Limerick) in the league promotion game despite being 8 points ahead
Championship Failure: Munster Championship: Beaten by Tipp despite being 7 points up in the second half
2013
-League Failure: League promotion final: Beaten by Dublin.
-Munster champions: defeated Tipp and beat Cork easily. We see now that Munster Championships are nice to have, but ultimately they mean nothing.
-Championship Failure: AI Semi Final: Worse than 2009. A manager de-void of ideas.
The superb Limerick players and long suffering supporters deserve better. The current manager has done very well for himself over the past 2 years, however, its time for a manager who can actually deliver the all Ireland that these players and supporters deserve. Time for a manager(s) who can deliver an All Ireland to Limerick.
Limerick hurling is still in a worse place than 2009.
By the way, why was Seamus Hickey spending so much time on the TV and on the radio in the weeks prior to the semi final? It appears that the Clare hurlers were actually preparing for an All Ireland semi final during this time…
Time for change. Limericks talented hurlers deserve better in my opinion. The “Happy Losers” will, I am sure, disagree.

A Munster final is a glorified AI QF. Nothing more.
You only have to go back and look at the carry on on this forum to see how Limerick completely lost the run of themselves after the Munster Final. A couple of pints that evening (for the fans, not the players) and then heads down in the run up the AISF would have been more appropriate.

The silverware is nice to have. It is something tangible that the players can look to and identify as and achievement and progress.
However, we have seen that the elimination of the 2 provincial champions puts a question mark over the long term viability of the provincial championships. You are correct, the Munster and Leinster championships are a glorified AI QF.
Clare have a super manager. he is overly passionate but thats why he is and will continue to be successful. Limerick would love to have a county hero like Davy to manage them, (there may be one!).
Compare Davys passion for Clare hurling to John Allens passion for Limerick hurling. Its a bit of a joke really.
Hard to believe its 17 years since Ciaran captained us to an All Ireland final. Hard to believe its 19 years since Gary Kirby captained us to an All Ireland final.

This years crop have the same medal’s in their back pockets w/o half the pain in fairness.
Ya, but that was a real Munster Championship then. I would argue the medal won by Kirby et al. is far harder won and prestigious than anyone’s present day wins at provincial.
He addressed none of the very obvious issues the Limerick Hurling team showed throughout the campaign, happy to leave it alone because they were winning.
Surprised to see him go. Players liked him apparently and Limerick looked to be improving year on year. Even if Limerick do get Sheedy it seems like they’re taking a bit of a gamble.
Typical Limerick. Team improving incrementally, set up was stable. No guarantees of securing someone like Sheedy either. I think Allen has done a good job, solved some issues (full back and centre back), not fully addressed others but overall a success.
Thanks for the efforts John but its time for change. After the awful preparation for the Clare match there was no way a contract extension was going to happen.
Delivering Liam McCarthy is the only measure of success.

No loss. Limerick Hurling needs Limerick men.[/quote[/quote]
Julio has a point. The last 3 limerick managers were from Cork. They did reasonably well but were any of the two of them ever in it for even the medium term haul or did they have a genuine passion for Limerick hurling? You would think that Limerick should have a man from its own ranks to take the helm.
