John Allen won a Munster against his native county,Cregan won an AI against Limerick! it can be done alright.
would Ken Hogan be an option for Waterford lads ? Or limerick or Galway if the jobs became available? He seems to have well with Tipp under 21 teams.
The dream team of Michael Ryan and Colm Bonnar is what Limerick need.
The limerick squad needs stability. Unless allens personal situation has changed drastically leaving now would be a mercenary move.
Well I know the players would love Donal O Grady back, especially the younger lads. He was a great man manager and would phone lads up and ask them how college or work was etc. Allen is the opposite, a squad member in recent years who didn’t make the cut this year was informed by phone and that was the first conversation he had with John. Nothing wrong with either approach, and I’m not saying they don’t respect or like Allen, far from it, but Donal’s hands on approach was appreciated greatly.
Not mercenary, TAN, personal circumstances, he owes us nothing.
That’s good to hear on O’Grady but I got the feeling he didn’t give that much of a shit to be honest. In for a year and gone again, I doubt he’d commit to longer than a year again and that’s no good. Also his short game obsession and selections weren’t great with Limerick.
Interestingly I remember a player talking about his coaching and how he taught them to hook properly, in contrast I heard recently Davy has taught his lads to hold the free hand rather than try attempt a hook leaving the opponent with only the hand holding the hurley to play the ball.

Yeah I agree that his game didn’t really suit Limerick as such, but those words are from the players. One of your own club men would love him back, he might get more than a 5 minute cameo then.
True. He burst onto the scene under O’Grady, injury problems didn’t help but hardly had a look in since. If O’Grady came back he’d have to be willing to adjust his game plan and put a bit more thought into his approach.
Limerick needing to pay Cork lads a fortune to teach them how to hook?
Did the Go-Games not catch on up there?

not that you give a fcuk, but the current minors are the first batch to have come through that system from the beginning.
what we lack is any obvious candidate for manager with experience of a well organised modern intercounty setup from within our own borders.
Go games is in place 3 years. There are a few years to go yet.

That Davy is an awful kunt, if he hadnt sent clare out in such a negative mindset ye’d surely have beaten us
I’m glad you agree!
Yeah, the limerick lads off practising the skills and the Clare lads training on how to foul properly , god help us you probably believe it too
Seriously? o_O
Unfortunately codys free hand grabbing designed to stop corks running game had become the norm

Doesn’t look like it, a bit like cork
Just what I heard off a Clare man.
It’s become far more frequent, it’s no reflection on teams as KC was trying to say I was making out, it’s just the way the game has gone and there’s now been a big change again even since Donal O’Grady managed Limerick in 2011. I’d love to see holding the free hand or the hurley and charging with the ball blown far more regularly, or at all.
There is no question about it. all county teams are trying to do this. One of the most common words you wil hear from coachs when their team is defending now is release. Lads are coached to grab and the key is letting go before awhistle
I hate it myself but it had become part of manly hurling
