R.E.M. went to fuck on their last 3 albums. There were signs of it on Reveal with dross like Iā€™ll Take the Rain. They should have just quit then.

Iā€™ve never seen them live. I was luke warm about them in my youth but the more I listen these days the more I like them.

I always liked E-Bow the Letter and Electrolite. New Adventures was a lovely little album imo.

Always liked the older albums but as I get older I find I listen to Monster and New adventures a lot more. Leave and Be Mine are two favourites.

Shiny happy people on the other hand is utter scutter

Saw them 3 times ( I think).

First time was on the Up tour in Belgium when I was 17. Saw them in Dublin about ten days later. More or less the same set list but I didnā€™t care. They always threw in a few nuggets from the IRS years.

Had a soft spot for Lifeā€™s rich Pageant so was delighted when they played this:

Then thereā€™s Shiny Happy People - Up there with Scatman, Iā€™m Blue and Barbie Girl as some of the worst shit ever recorded.

Billā€™s last album was New Adventures. Everything after that was a drop off (although Up has its moments). Last album I bought was Reveal and it was pretty weak
