Yeats will be missed. Takes all the blueshirt and prod comments in his stride. Slags the shit out of Chris D. Shame
Indeed, so does this mean there will be a new incarnation soon TASE / NCC? We wait with baited breath.
Broke his own record this morning. I sometimes have them on in the car(usually after leaving the radio on Newstalk from the might before). I change over as soon as him or O Donoghue start being cocks or engaging in the weakest banter imaginable.
Today I switched after about 6 seconds.

He’s getting harder to listen to alright, bud. What struck me this morning was when he said he was living in Sandymount. Is he not bankrupt? Is keeping a very expensive house allowed under UK bankruptcy laws?
Didn’t hear that in my six seconds. I presume he had stuff in his wife’s name. Although I think I remember one of the banks went after his ma’s gaff.
He is a seedy, fingers in the till, junket loving, old school politician type. He’s a reflection of everything that’s wrong with Ireland. His only saving grace is that he recognises this in pther areas of public life and calls it out on occasion.
Agreed bar the last bit which far from being a saving grace makes him more of a hypocrite. Did he have to testify under oath at the uk bankruptcy hearing I wonder , that his future was in the uk?
He did his 12 months in the UK and has now exited bankruptcy as far as I know. @Mac will know more but I think he lost everything including his mother’s home. Presume he’s paying for his Sandymount digs out of his Newstalk earnings.
I listen to Newstalk on the way to work. Don’t dislike him.
I may have misunderstood, but I thought that to claim uk bankruptcy one had to testify that ones future and future business lay there. I may be wrong. Yates obviously had no intention of this as he cried into his beer in Wales. COTY contender in any year. Whiny bitch of a man.
Yates is alright. I flick between him and Marty on Lyric in the morning’s.
Sure the banter can be a bit much and he is far from polished but he has some interesting views and above all his awareness of life outside Dublin sets him apart from other current affair presenters.
Maybe I have a soft spot for him as he was an excellent minister for agri back in the day.

He did lose everything. The family home is now a creche. I think his mother still managed to hold onto her house. Doubt the Sandymount house is owned by him but wouldn’t have a clue to be honest.

NEWSTALK PRESENTER IVAN YATES has claimed that Stephanie Roche is nominated for FIFA’s Goal of the Year because she’s female.
The former politician added that there’s ‘no way’ Roche deserves to win the Puskas Award and that the entire campaign has been ‘sham amateurism’.
Speaking on the radio station’s Breakfast show, Yates offered up a withering assessment of Roche’s acclaimed strike for Peamount United against Wexford Youths – a goal that will see her rub shoulders with the best players in the world at tonight’s Ballon d’Or awards ceremony in Zurich.
She will battle it out with Dutch striker Robin van Persie and Colombian star James Rodriguez.
“It’s the height of tokenism”, Yates commented.
“She was playing for Peamount United. Give me a break. To compare Van Persie, a world-class goal in a World Cup…I mean, what sort of defence would Wexford Youths put up?”
Even Andy Carroll could score against them. The fact of the matter of it is, it’s tokenism because she’s a woman. The fact that she’s Irish, fantastic and good luck to her. But there’s no way she deserves the Puskas Award. No way! Its sham amateurism.”
Roche’s goal has received widespread praise with a litany of high-profile names backing the strike owing to its technical difficulty.
But some dissenters have questioned how Roche can legitimately compete with Van Persie and Rodriguez’s strikes owing to their high-profile nature.
yates is bang on once again
Robbie or Ivan, Robbie or Ivan…

Yates is a gobshite but he loves a good WUM in fairness to him.
he is a decent enough WUM allright, but here id say he isnt wumming…
He has nothing on Franno tho… that WUM on Newstalk last year that got all the gay PC crowd hot and bothered was top notch stuff… excellent wummerization
Heard this earlier and he is bang on. Fucking ridiculous shit.
Bit harsh on Andy Carroll, he scored a screamer at the weekend.
He’s spot on. Myself and @Tess Tickle have been saying this for weeks.
I’d take someone who lived next door to Michael Laudrup for a year’s opinion before the Eire masses when it comes to football tbh.
