No thatās not what Iām basically saying but sure it seems that you wonāt think any different anyway.
A report from 2004 is irrelevant given how much has changed in the last 6 years. In 2004 you couldnāt gamble online apart from backing horses, dogs & sports. Since online casinos and pokers exploded into popularity in the latter half of the last decade, the landscape has completely changed. It would be interesting to see what those stats would be if gamcare published a report this year about it and Iād be pretty sure the FOBTs problem gamblers would be down to single figure percentages.
What about online gambling Ncc, should it be restricted in a similar manner to the US. It obviously has the potential to be incredibly addictive and is accessible 24/7?
Personally I think those fixed point gambling machines or slot machines in general shouldnāt be let anywhere near this country
that argument is pretty retarded. Should we let people deal heroin too so it can keep the dole numbers down?
FOBTS are bad news. It is something I noticed in the UK quite a bit. Even when Cheltenham was on you could go into a bookies in central London and see a rake of Asian clobbering around these machines. Oz is a disgrace, bookies inside in pubs. There will be serious social problems down the road in Oz with gambling.
There could be an argument that a tax should be put on all online betting in Ireland to try and keep the people working in bookies in jobs but still that is the way the market is going. We cant halt change too much. Bookie shops are horrific places anyway filled with degenerates.
Mac was seething when the company was placed in administration (what do administrators known about running betting shops, Yatesy will turn it around etc etc). He must be in bits altogether today.
Yates is a fair reflection of how fucked this country is. His ābanterā is indicative of the country we are. Fucked. Wrong. But shouting the odds in an entertaining way. His appaling tipping for cheltenham followed by barefaced lies on what he actually tipped was hilarious.
I couldnāt give 2 ends of fcuk what Yates gets upto outside of his job on Newstalk. He kept me entertained in the mornings travelling to work and heāll be missed. His first few broadcasts were filling in on the Right Hook and boy was he green.
His sharpened up quite quickly though and took the blandness outta talk radio. Itās lightly Coleman will get the gigā¦ Jesus, Donoghue and Coleman, how fleming boring is that going to be.
