Seems to have fallen out of favour since the World Cup and was being left as an unused sub in several games.
Rumours of a falling out with pep too, which meant city decided to ship him out on loan.

The Doc yesterday, Aubamayang and Marcos Alonso in a previous window. Not a whole pile of others coming to mind. I see Villarreal have signed Ben Brereton Diaz from Blackburn on a pre-contract, but he’s younger I think.
Why would it be necessary for Tottenham to terminate Doherty’s contract to facilitate the move?
If it was a loan, Atleti would be paying his wages so are they paying him less now that they’ve in effect signed him cold. Presumably Spurs would have to pay up the remaining 18 months of his contract also, so he’ll get a decent wedge.
Leaving Spence go was strange as he was excellent for Forest and Middlesbrough and hasn’t got a look in under Conte. They’ve gone all-in on this Porro lad, whom I know nothing about.
Something about the amount of loan deals involved.
Spurs were at their loan limit. The limit is 8 I think.

The Dazzler said it was because Spurs could only have a certain number of players out on loan. The kickback for the player is that he is a free agent in the summer and can get a big signing on fee somewhere. No transfer fee also means no sell on payments to previous clubs.

Wow. Net spend champions league winners! Out of that entire team id say only Ederson and Jimenez have been any value. Id reserve judgement on this fella and obviously Nunez, who i feel will turn into a solid 25 goals a season guy for a lower tier club.

There’s something very dodgy about this Fernandez deal. 10 million in the summer and 120 million 6 months later.
I’ve always considered myself a Scout as opposed to a manger or a coach and by opinion is he’s a good player but the weight of his transfer fee will see him struggle at Chelsea. He’ll up at inter Milan soon and do well.
Both it and the Antony deal stink.
