Manager Avram Grant believes new signing Robbie Keane can be the catalyst which saves West Ham from relegation.
Keane watched West Ham at Upton Park yesterday as they defeated Nottingham Forest 3-2 to go through to the fifth round of the FA Cup where they face another home tie against Championship opposition in the shape of Burnley.
And while striker Victor Obinna scored a hat-trick for the Hammers it was the capture of Keane, on an initial loan from Tottenham until the end of the season, which excited Grant.
Grant, who has heard how Keane can inspire a dressing room from his pal, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp, said: āHe (Keane) is not just a good player, he is a good character that we need in the next 14 games.ā
I hadnāt heard about Liverpools bid for Ashley Young until I read it in the paper just there. Looks like they will almost certainly be signing him before today is out if they meet Villas ā¬18m valuation.
I like Carroll, he is a handful and causes the world of problems but he is fairly limited, even if he is young and has a bit fo potential it is hard to see how he is going to becoem anything more than a targetmanā¦I would think that Darren Bent is looking like value if Carroll goes for 20 million +
Villa have told Liverpool to fuck off, so the Young deal is apparently dead in the water already and Liverpool are to switch their attention back to Charlie Adam
Rumours going around various Villa websites that since Adam Johnson is injured and city are looking for cover they have offered Villa a deal of Milner+Ā£7m for Young. Youngs price on Skybet has halved in the last half hour. That would be a great bit of businesss for Villa.
Read an article in the Guardian recently that suggested that the big 5 with the exception of City were after Young. So even with Johnsons injury it would be a surprise. With Makoun and Bradley coming in Iām not sure Milner is a
goer. Delph there too and if this Gardner is worthy of half the hype about him we should have a decent roster there next season anyway. Milner would have to head back with his tail between his legs and those situations dont tend to turn out too well - Robbie Keane etc.
Surprised noone has come in for Reo Coker. Out of
contract in the summer and a solid EPL performer if nothing else and still in his mid 20s. Petrov is finished at this level again though surprised noone has had a punt.
