Newcastle say they have recieved and rejected a £30m bid for Carroll from Liverpool.
Would Niall Quinn fetch £30m if he was in his prime nowadays?

Ian Dennis of the BBC claiming Liverpool have bid 30M for Andy Carroll
Newcastle have turned down a £30m bid for Andy Carroll.
The bid is from Liverpool which may hint either the Torres deal will go ahead or the Suarez deal is off.
Oh FFS.
If Liverpool go ahead with that bid for Carroll then they can forget about me rekindling my interest in them.
And to think people were saying Bent was overpriced, Carroll has played a half a season in the EPL(i think he may have played a few games the season they were relegated), how can they value him that highly?
Bizarre.
More evidence that English players are way overpriced.
Neither Bent nor Carrolls valuations make a blind bit of sense RinTinTin. Football has ate itself. Harry must be salivating at the prospect of bidding 30M and getting Carroll.
Harry has severly over valued Augero at £40m as well .
Have Sky had an interview with 'Arry through a rolled down window yet? A must have for any deadline day.
About an hour and a half ago, As he was driving away he put his phone to his ear and suggested to the reporter he had to take it as it was “Sergio” on the line.
Great banter from Harry. Note how he always addresses reporters by their first name - he’s not gruff or dismissive with them; he’s just a good guy.
Not sure which is funnier - Liverpool bidding that much for Carroll or Newcastle turning it down.
+1
 'Arry, what a character, wot?!
Best deadline day ever, and City not even making a move anywhere.
Definitely the bid from Liverpool. Put yourself in Newcastle’s shoes… you’re guessing this is probably a prank call or a candid camera type thing and you don’t want to play the eejit and treat it like a serious bid. Best to pretend it’s all just a joke and save face.
You taking the piss? Quinn was some donkey, yet you had the likes of Dunphy, Giles, etc fawning over him.
And Andy carroll isn’t?
Liverpool do need a strong player in the air up front alright but paying more than Barca paid for David Villa seems a bit excessive. Not surprised Newcastle turned it down, they think he’s one of the best strikers in the world.
 For fuck sake
