To be fair, and with the benefit of hindsight, I think the ânew Zidaneâ moniker was probably a little off the mark, sid. Thatâs not to say it wonât still happen for him.
Dagliesh is a dinosaur who should have been left where he was, on the scrapheap. He has no place in the bustling, dynamic environment of the EPL.
Liverpoolâs failed bid for Adam was ÂŁ6.3m plus add ons. Theyâve now turned their attention to Udineseâs Italian midfielder Santino Marella apparently.
Taking a break for The Savage Eye. Please update the thread.
Iâve read about this lad before - will they be able to wrestle him away from Udinese though?
Henry Winter of The Telegraph on Twitter:
âAvram talking about âgood characterâ of Robbie Keane. Nice guy. Good pro. Even volunteering for reserves in last days at #thfc.â
Pretty much the general consensus about Robbie from those with knowledge of football. Trains well. Good influence. Eager to play.
Is that not the cursed number? Every player whoâs worn it for the last 10 years has failed or something like that?
I donât understand why he would lie about him like that. We were told different.
Not sure whether it has been mentioned but Daniel Sturridge has joined Bolton on loan
I think he would to be honest. Fellas here seem to fast to judge guys on their form of a few years ago with âoh he was shit when he was atâŚâ. Adam has been consistently good this season in the EPl, against some of the better sides too. He has improved his condition even since the start of the season. He is in form now and moving within the same league, for me if they can get him for 3,4, 5 M they its a steal. The Pool actually have nobody to pass the ball as well as him on a consistent basis.
While the money is ridiculous, i think Carroll is going to be a real top player, and while i donât watch much of the dutch league, what i have seen of Suarez has nearly always impressed me. I think they could make a good partnership.
From a footballing point of view its good (Torres wanted out and was playing cak for long periods this season) but from a business point of view it seems mental.
Now one could look at it this way. Liverpool probably believe that theyâll never get as much for Torres again, so they are cashing in and see the money almost as play money and sure we might as well go mad. If we hung around with this Torres cunt we may get 12 or 15M later on. Maybe they really believe Carroll is going to be a 30M player soon enough anyway.
I think heâll probably do well at Chelsea, but it wouldnât surprise me in the least if in a year we look back and say Liverpool came out of all this 100 times better than Chelsea. He is an injury crock after all.
Miguel Delaney is dragging down the standard of journalist musings on twitter tonight:

A serious question for Lâpool fans⌠does Torresâs denigrate the 4-1 at Old Trafford since he was so central to it? Genuine Q, not a taunt

Thought: much of todayâs activity was,on biggest scale, irrelevant because Barca going to dominate football and render much else meaningless

Eider Gudjohnsen on his way to Fulham
Adam has been playing well but everything is set up for him at Blackpool, their style of player and whole team is built around himâŚAt a better club this wonât be the case and he would be expected to do far more that dictate the play like he does for Blackpool, especially with the likes of Meireles and Gerrard there alreadyâŚ
I said it earlier in this thread, in terms of ability I donât think he is better than Andy Reid for instance, both are very good footballers with regards to their technical ability but they are both fairly flawed as well, neither is particularly mobile and have had problems with fitness/conditioningâŚ

For the money being mentioned youâd want some consistency over time though. They arenât going to get him for 3, 4, 5m anyway.

Money is ridiculous alright.
I think he has potential to be a decent player but heâs got limited attributes and again he hasnât had sustained brilliance for a period of time. For that sort of money you could buy an awful lot better. There will be people reading this news across Europe who havenât heard of Carroll.
I donât understand the last point - surely Liverpool believe heâs worth more than 30m now.
No guarantees but Chelseaâs main risk is injury. His form hasnât been fantastic this season but still did well in big games and heâs been playing in a brutal team devoid of confidence. His class is undoubted.
Same doesnât apply for Liverpool.
Trying too hard to find a different angle.
Your points are very valid Puke, but maybe KD sees a way of integrating him into the team. He has still had to play against guys like Carrick, De Jong etc who donât exactly stand around admiring him.
While similar in ability, there is no comparison in fitness/conditioning of Adam and Reid for one massive reason, Adam has played way way more and is way slimmer and fitter(obviously one is because of the other to an extent). Adam is playing 90 minutes most of the time and seems as good near the end as any other time. While heâs no Roy Keane, i think fellas are judging him a bit too much on how he looked in August.
Newcastle trying to sign NâZogbia back. What a joke of a club!
He just strikes me as a big fish in a small pond at the moment and I donât think he has the ability to become a real top class playmaker and would doubt he would be able to make much of a step upâŚ
He certainly has been impressive for Blackpool, credit where credit is due but the whole team is built around him and to allow him to play at the level he hasâŚI donât think a bigger club will do the sameâŚ
