Shamrock Rovers F.C. announced the signing of Dave McAllister

Shamrock Rovers today confirmed new contracts for Sean Boyd, Trevor Clarke, Shane Hanney and James Doona.

Speaking today Rovers’ Head Coach Stephen Bradley said that:

“I am delighted to get these signings done, it’s great that the young lads see their future here as they did have interest from elsewhere. They showed everyone their abilities last season so now they have to build on that. They have to prove their ability again this season.

Sean Boyd:

Sean (18) hit the ground running when he joined Shamrock Rovers two years ago. His performances with the Under 19s ensured it was only a matter of time before he progressed to the first team. He made his league debut in the 3-0 win at home to Sligo last May and registered his first league goal in sensational fashion in the Dublin Derby win against Bohs at Tallaght Stadium. International recognition came his way too during the year when Sean was called up by the Republic of Ireland Under 18s. Sean has 28 senior appearances and 7 goals to date.

Trevor Clarke:

Trevor joined the Hoops in September 2015 after he came home from Middlesbrough. He impressed with the Under 19s playing along the wing and made his first team debut in the Leinster Senior Cup Semi Final away to Bohs. Trevor (18) has won the hearts of the Hoops’ supporters with his runs along the wing and his desire to take on opponents and leave them for dead. His efforts this season have seen him crowned as the SRFC Young Player of the Year. Trevor has scored twice in 35 competitive appearances for the first team to date.

Shane Hanney:

Shane played mainly at centre half for the Under 19s in his first season at the club. The former Templeogue United defender who joined two years ago also proved to be a solid performer playing as right full. He has shown a versatility that has made him a valuable player by proving he can be very effective in the centre of midfield. Shane will not be 19 until next February but despite his young age he has already shown a maturity that has seen him become a first team squad member. Shane has 13 competitive appearances and 2 goals to his credit as a first team player.

James Doona:

James (18) came to Rovers last year and has turned a lot of heads with his flair and style in the Under 19s. A central midfielder, he is a good reader of the game and has quality passing skills. He likes to get forward as much as he can and score goals. He is one of the young batch of players promoted to the first team during 2016 and although he did not see as much action as the others there cannot be any doubt he is a star in waiting. A Republic of Ireland Youth international, James has 3 appearances and 1 goal to date for the first team.

why is Denis O’Brien bank rolling Bray?

@rocko where is Draxler off to?

Also being reported that the Chinese lads are willing to pay £60 m for Oscar :joy:

Mandzucic is also in his way over there for big bucks as well

And Tevez for ridiculous money –

Some very average footballers could go there and make what some top players around Europe are getting

Money talks. I imagine we will see much more moving there in the next few years. They cleaned out the Brazilian league of their best players a year ago. They’ll do it again now.

I presume the mls are seething with their wages caps and salary restrictions now that the Chinese are taking prospective star players.

Funny to see certain members of the British media up in arms about this China thing when the only reason good foreign footballers play in England is for money as well

Tomas Rincon has joined Juve for €8m.
Pavoletti has completed his move to Napoli for €18m.
Gagliardini is set join Inter on loan. €6m loan fee and option to buy for €19m

Not sure on how Gagliardini is, He has only played 11 top flight games and only has 2 u21 caps at the age of 22 but he has had a very impressive debut season in Serie A thus far. Inter, like Milan, are trying to add more Italian players to their squad.
