I know that, Austin still wasn’t good enough to lace his boots though.
hard to believe its going on 18 years since a young roy keane galloped around wembley in running battle with Edinburgh.
Big red head on him and a tinkers haircut is what i remember.
Remember Gascoigne at the start of that game before he busted his knee?
He was like a man possessed. I distinctly remember him sticking his studs in Gary Parker’s chest.

That was the day when the FA cup was still a big deal and Spurs were the first team to don long nicks. A revelation at the time.

Wasn’t that the same year he scored a ridiculous free kick against Arsenal in the semi? Then Stuart Pearce scored a belter in the final.
Aye, Newstalk play the interview with him after the game as one of their intro’s. Halcyon days.
Newcastle have signed Kevin “Bolton till I die” Nolan
Blackburn have signed El Hadj Diouf
Man City have had another bid for Santz Cruz turned down.
Nolan gave up waiting then. He’d have been better off staying with the ginger messiah at Bolton.
Fuck Cruz, throw the money at Drogba and see what happens.
Middlesborough are looking to sign Villa left back Nickey Shorey
Fulham are after Giles Barnes on loan
Both Man City and Tottenham have made bids for Lucas Podolski
El Hadj Diouf has joined Blackburn
Wigan right back Ryan Taylor is set to join Newcastle
4m sounds decent for Nolan.
Do Koeln still have first option on Podolski? Think they might but they’ll hardly compete with those two for fees.

If city got Podolski and Given before the window shuts I reckon they will make the top six easily…Have picked up a bit of form in the last few weeks
Podolski has an odd attitude problem. He has really looked uninterested at Bayern and seems to want superstardom without actually contributing much. Plenty of potential and looked class at Koeln and again with Germany but he’s not a guarnateed goal machine.
Hope he does well for himself because I like him, I’d rather he stayed in the Bundesliga though.
You would get fair odds on that. Man City have been nothing short of a disgrace away from home this season but have the third best record at home. I’d expect them to get into midtable but Bellamy’s goals will dry up and Hughes still has to try and make a team out of them.
I just think that with an experienced keeper, as decent left full, centre midfielder and two decent strikers(one still tocome I would say) that they will improve and start to put a few results together…take the top 5 out of it and there isn’t muuch in it
Edit: they are currently only 4 points off 7th although Everton look solid in 6th…
There’s been a few odd deals over the past 24 hours.
- Real Madrid have paid West Ham Stg1.5m to take Julien Faubert on loan for the rest of the season.
- Portsmouth are reported to be locked in talks with Spurs over a Stg7m deal to sign Giovani Dos Santos. This comes a day after Tony Adams dismissed speculation linking Javier Saviola with the club and stated he was only interested in players with a proven EPL record. So why Dos Santos then?
- Wigan have made an offer for Charles Insomnia. Newcastle are trying to get Ryan Taylor as part of the deal.
- Hearts have accepted a 2.5m bid from Wolves for Christophe Berra.
- Chris Killen has joined Norwich City on loan for the rest of the season.
- Newcastle are trying to line up Allan McGregor to replace Given.
I thought this was pretty funny. Some Spurs fan made it and I stuck it in here as it mentions 'Arry’s 'abit of talking about transfer targets. Anyway, it’s a guide to a typical post match press conference with 'Arry:
TFK Exclusive -
I can exclusively reveal that Shay Given will join Manchester City before the end of the transfer window. The deal regarding Given is done but the only stumbling block is that Newcastle want City to sign Michael Owen as well. They are telling City either buy both or none.
Yet another TFK exclusive.
I wonder wil Robbie Keane still be a Liverpool player by the end of tomorrow…Any sign of Andy Burton on SSN yet…
Benitez was asked after the game today if Keane would still be a Liverpool player after Monday and he smiled and said ‘I think so’.
Portsmouth have signed Greek striker Theofanis Gekas on loan from Leverkusen for the rest of the season
