Cruz was decent for Bayern from what I remember. He was never the world’s best striker but had potential.
Was definitely better than the liks of Jankner who must go down as one of the worst players to kick a ball.

Yea, I think we had this chat before farmer, I never rated him that much to be honest. He was gameful, but limited.
Jancker was a joke played on us by the DFB

I don’t think he kicked it too often farmer, normally fell over it or headed it…
Liverpool are reportedly linked with a last gasp bid for Landon Donovan.
For 25 million there are lots of other strikers you could get that would be better than Santa Cruz
Tevez
Klose
Milito
Gilardino
to name a few off hand and they would all cost less than 25 million…

Bayern are funny like that. Remember reading an article a while back about how Uli Hoeness wants a target man at the club at all times. That’s why they had players like Cruz and Jancker and latterly Klose and Toni. They don’t need to be as awkward as Jancker but there’s a prototype for a Bayern striker and it involves heading ability above most other things.
Fulham completed the loan signing of Olivier Dacourt.
Delighted to see Dacourt back, superb player for Leeds back in O Leary’s days…Not the most stylish but a superb tackler and reader of the game, used to do an awful amount of the hard work in the leeds engine so that Lee Bowyer could concentrate in banging in goals
Andy Burton, I Salute You
The window has slammed shut and the curtain has been drawn on another month of transfer mayhem:
I thought N’Zogbia already went to Wigan before the weekend?
Bullshit.
He has only really played at the highest level once before at the World Cup 2002 and he was excellent.
The biggest problem he had at Liverpool was that he never got to play in his best position. He didn’t fit into the system and that was Benitez’s fault for buying him - not Keane’s.
His unsuccessful stints at Leeds and Inter Milan escape your mind Farmer. Both sides had designs on winning titles when he arrived similar to Liverpool and he has failed at all three.
Yes Keane can complain about systems, man management, the curse of the number 7 jersey etc. Undoubtedly a poor signing by Benitez.
But if we take off our green tinted glasses it seems crystal clear that he is not good enough to play with a side of serious aspirations as his record has proved. Dont think Benitez ever forgave him for that horrendous miss against Marseilles or whoever it was.
Its an absolutely shocking signing by Tottenham. What must Darren Bent think. 2 goals at the weekend and now fourth choice striker.
Yet another player who was never quite the same after leaving Super Leeds…add him to Bowyer, kewell,Robinson,Woodgate,Viduka…while Rio’s stock rose a cool 12m in value in 2 years at the club…Marching on together…
Please tell me thats some made up wishy washy scheidt?
Yep it is. Ive seen it written in a few places tho. A lot of parallel’s between Keane and Nigel Clough.
Recent number sevens for Liverpool with the exception of McManaman have been pretty awful.
Clough, Keane, Smicer, Leonhardsen?, Kewell. I’m sure there is a few more
Priceless bit on the transfer tracker on the BBC website today
1655: Wigan’s Olivier Kapo says he wants to leave the JJB: “If I stay at Wigan, I will have a blank year. It is the worst moment of my career.” I dunno, maybe he should have said something sooner?

Thought it was a Keane specific thing. Think he wore 7 at Inter and he definitely wore 7 at Leeds.
The Beeb is really putting it up to Murdoch Inc with this swoop
1721: Arsenal fans, don’t look: One of our news agencies is claiming that Zenit and the Gunners have failed to reach a deal on the transfer of Andrei Arshavin. It is only one source, though, so we will try and get more on that as and when we have it.
1719: We can confirm that Giovani dos Santos is not going to Portsmouth, so the Mexican youngster will be hoping for a bit more action at Spurs from now until the end of the season.
Can’t believe your judging keane on his time at inter…a bit like at liverpool he suffered due to club politics…Lippi signed him then got sacked after Inter failed to qualify for champs lge group stages…think it was against helsinsborg, not sure…i remember Keane came on as a sub and hit the post with an overhead kick that would have got them through…tardelli came in and wanted to put his own stamp on Inter and didn’t want keane without giving him too much of a chance…he was back in england within 4 months…
He was nowhere near good enough for them either by the way. They had some serious strikers at the time as far as I remember.
He has succeeded at Wolves, Coventry and Tottenham
Failed at Liverpool, Leeds and Inter.
Spot a consistent theme?
I’d worry about his return to Spurs also. There is no way his partnership with Defoe will ever work. Maybe up he might do well with the Russian but the threat of a groundhog day is looming large.
