COTY nomination for the above quote alone. Like DHW said above, the FAI have secured his future. Was there ever a person given so much, by so few, for doing so little?
What are you on about?

Bizarre comments.
Why? He does fuck all.
The FAI is a minority organisation.
Anyway, if he left, pat mcquaid is a ready made like for like replacement. Begging off dermot Desmond, and having the good fortune to have a benevolent oligarch on the scene does not a leader make.

@Dirty Hands Walter you had a great post on here listing some of his recent achievements as head of the FAI, could you please bump it to for @flattythehurdler so he no longer has to wallow in ignorance and talk down the great John Delaney
Not dumb. True.
:rolleyes:
- Merge the National League and the FAI;
- Ensure we obtain sufficient levels of sponsorship to complement the FAI’s own ongoing impressive investment in grassroots and schoolboy football;
- Negotiate a TV rights deal which will benefit football in Ireland for generations to come;
- Focus on developing the women’s game, including the setting up of a national league;
- Secure the future of one of the greatest managers in the history of the game;
- Build a new stadium to host international matches and FAI Cup Finals without putting the future of the association at risk;
Oh shit. Forgot he’s done all that already.
Bumped for @flattythehurdler
Delaney is the Harbo of the football administrator world
Easier for Delaney to go and make multiples of money elsewhere*
*asterisk
Pal, I’m not going to bump the post. If people want to drown in a pool of their own ignorance then let them go ahead. Meanwhile, Mr Delaney will continue to drive the association’a staggering growth.
Denis O’Brien loves running these puff pieces in his newspaper for Delaney. Gives both of them good press and keeps the simpletons happy.
Meanwhile the FAI is €50 million in debt, the country has plummeted from 12th to 70th in the world rankings under Delaney’s watch, and nobody goes to see the national team any more. The attendance at the last game against Turkey was particularly embarrassing.
Delaney gets paid €360k per annum to preside over this tin pot association. You’ve got to admire the man for being able to pull that one off.

Agreed.
His equivalent in Spain and Italy are on 150k a year
I assume the 360k a year doesn’t include expenses either
If you strip out the Sports Council grants of €3.0m that the FAI get it is running at a loss of about 1.5m a year
40m turnover leads to a 25k surplus when you include the grants
Given the receipt of public funds the Dail Public Accounts Committee should take an interest

The number of times we hear this shite from some no mark like angela kerins and her ilk is remarkable

exactly , the FAI had to stump up 110 million and Sandymount Road is raging that they still owe 50 million a few years after it opened - laughable
