John Delaney/ tugging off half the forum

A bit of a cunts trick to record a lad singing a harmless song with his friends after a few pints.

Some people took offense to him singing a RA* song.

*Post 1970 RA, i,e not songs about your grandpappyā€™s RA.

Oh my name is John Delaney
From Waterford town I came
That city I will never visit again
For in the town of Waterford
I spent many happy days
And I loved that town in oh so many ways
For itā€™s there I spent my childhood
And found for me a wife
I then set out to make for her a life
Oh but all my young ambition
Met with bitterness and hate
I soon found myself a different bird to date

And you dare to call me overpaid
While you look down your phone
When I think of all the deeds that I have done -
I have travelled many nations
Divided many fans
I have drank pints with the people
I ruled with an iron hand
And I brought Stans reign of error to this land

John Delaney is a proud Tipperary man who went to school in Abbey CBS Tipperary and played his Association Football with St. Michaels FC. He is well known for buying his round in pubs around Tipp. He also regularly goes back to his former school with free tickets for all students/teachers for upcoming Irish International Association Football games.

I can confirm that John is an alright sort.

Disgraceful attack on JD alleging he is from Waterford. This cyber bullying has to stop.

What did he sing.

John os a friend of Bridge Celtic, top bloke

Shanagolden of course

Yes, to be fair to John, he was from Kilkenny in college when they had won All-Irelands, but it got a little ambiguous when Tipp rose 88/89. For such reasons he was never from Waterford

If the song offends anyone of course Iā€™m sorry, itā€™s not in my nature to want to offend people.

@RossOCK: John Delaney: ā€œOver the years, Iā€™ve been working closely with cross-border initiatives to break down barriers.ā€ Yeah, so was Joe McDonnell!

No you donā€™t have to believe the words. Itā€™s just a song.

Great song though.

Did his lawyer contact the guardian denying that it was him singing thatā€™s a bit more of a problem than singing joe McDonnell. I mean Jaysus it not as if he was singing ā€œIā€™d rather be a p@**ie than a hunā€

Im behind John Delaney 100% , lucky there was no video phones when we were playing football and singing on the coaches #weareirish

Great stuff by Paul McGrath.

Disgraceful front page from the Irish Times today. Itā€™s quite clear it was an agenda driven cheap shot at Denis Oā€™Brien. Gutter journalism.

Emmet Malone has long held a vendetta against JD1

John needs to remain strong in this troubling time. The football people of Ireland are depending on him. The agents of Crown forces cannot be allowed to bring John down.

The sooner Sepp Delaney fucks off the better.
