John Delaney/ tugging off half the forum

That source lacks credibility.

Would you call the Italian and Spanish leagues homogeneous and functioning? How would you describe their national teams? Delaney earns more than what the head of the Italian and Spanish FAs earn almost combined.

Liverpool have a highly paid manager with a number of below average players. If he gets to within 8 points of Chelsea by seasons end he will have earned every penny of it. Unfortunately Liverpool donā€™t have an oligarch pumping millions in every year and have to balance the booksā€¦their net spend this year was 0.51mā€¦Chelsea can just keep spending and spent double what Liverpool did but had no worries about balancing the books with a net spend of 90mā€¦

Anyway, Delaney should be paid relevant to the domestic league and certainly not double what the head of some of the worlds top footballing chief execs get .

Heā€™s a top top man. Also a Tipp man.

New Stadium DAC owns the stadium. It has 4 shares in issue - 2 held by the FAI and 2 held by some guy called Philip Browne. The IRFU annual report is biased. Iā€™m looking at the stadium owning companyā€™s filed annual returns here.

Italy and Spain have rich footballing traditions.

Ireland is a country of stick yielding bog warriors. In Ireland a man like Delaney is the leader and visionary of the game, in countries like Spain and Italy with rich footballing traditions, his equivalent is merely just a figurehead.

Liverpool area a side with a highly paid manager and highly assembled playing squad, itā€™s a bizarre position to put yourself in where on one hand you are putting material value as the be all and end all, then on the other hand dismissing it for other grounds because it doesnā€™t suit your argument.

I wonā€™t let you have it both ways, mate.

You got there me there kid.

The IRFU donā€™t owe a bob on it though thank God

The lease is 60 years after which full ownership goes back to the IRFU.

Iā€™ve never dismissed itā€¦ There are levels too it and unfortunately Liverpool cannot compete with the spending power of Utd,City and Chelsea without having to sell alot. They are vastly better off than a number of clubs and should be in around 4th every year. If Klopp can get anywhere near second it will be miraculous after what clubs like Utd , City and Chelsea have spentā€¦ I mean, a net spend of 0.51 is phenomenalā€¦ As for your opening paragraph, pure waffle.

The FAI will clear their debts soon enough at this rate, World Cup qualification would be huge.

Why should Delaney be paid relative to the LOI? It is only one of the many areas of football in this country he manages.

I find the arguments about junior football facilities in this country a bit of a misnomer. These have come on hugely in the last 15 years or so and any well established team with solid numbers have decent facilities. It takes time to develop these in all sports and most clubs with poor pitches and facilities are of the here today gone tomorrow variety.

A 60 year lease at which point stadium reverts back into IRFU ownership. Twill see most of us out

It wonā€™t be miraculous.

Klopp is underachieving for a manager of his salary if they fail to mount a serious and sustained title challenge this season, under your logic (that you contradict because the nature of the argument does not sit well with you).

That would be great.

IRFU paid it off on 2010 and can see benefit of free cash now. Soccur wouldnā€™t know themselves if they could use the money from repaying the debt to fund the grassroots

Guys, Iā€™ve never mentioned a lease.

Iā€™ve just correctly stated that the FAI own 50% of the company which owns the stadium.

Huzzah!

Do you think whoever was involved in financing and refinancing their long term stadium related debt wouldnā€™t have done due diligence on this?

At the end of the day it matters not a whim.

Iā€™m sure whoever was financing it was satisfied that beneficial ownereship for 60 years was more than sufficient to advance the money to the FAI. The debt will be long paid before the security is returned to the IRFU

Iā€™ve never contradicted shut. I maintained from the start that Chelsea have far more talent, have spent far more and will continue to outspend most teams. You brought Klopp into it who is doing a outrageous job balancing the books while managers like Jose and Conte can just blow wads of cash without any such worries.
