John Delaney/ tugging off half the forum

Incorrect, he spent a couple of months trying to score my gf’s sister

That was listed as a plus point on a slide which also concluded that the league “is cool” and this, we are told, is a good thing

:joy:

Half-time EA Sports computer game tournaments on giant screens were recommended, although it begged one obvious question 'What giant screens?

:joy:

He recommended that managers engage in public spats to drum up a bit of publicity. “Between you and me it’s a bit of showbiz but it builds the product and it makes it exciting so why not? I don’t see why you can’t do stuff like that,” he claimed, not unreasonably.

:joy:

I know sometimes @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy asks for bullet points so I said I’d do the needful. This was someone’s transition year project right??

:joy:

That’s surely worth a pay raise for Delaney

Everybody’s talking about the LOI this morning.

This branding exercise has been ingenious by Delaney.

Ah lovely. Just on these points

  • In 2015 there were three rugby games and one GAA game ahead of the closest football game in the TV ratings.
  • Obviously the LOI are regular in The Europe League - teams qualify automatically for fuck’s sake
  • The National Team have qualified for two tournaments out of six in the 13 years under Delaney’s stewardship.
  • In the time with Delaney at the Helm the following clubs have been dissolved: Dublin City, Sporting Fingal, Derry City were dissolved and refounded,
  • Shelbourne were relegated due to financial irregularities. Those are just the ones that i can remember off the top of my head.

Room to improve and the Voice of Ireland :open_mouth: ---- Delaney earns more than the CEOs of footballing superpowers and he can’t even trump Bressie and some clown in a building hat.

That all seems reasonable.

JFK announced they’d walk on the moon before NASA even knew how to get out of the atmosphere. Announce the EA games, and the big screens will follow.

Ambition lads, Johns got it.

This is 2016 mate. Tv figures for Ireland vs Italy was higher than any gga or rugby match ever.

Teams dont automatically qualify for the Europa League.

Neither of those Clubs had any sort of a foundation, they were destined to fail.

Kids are very excited about when we will get to see the FAI bus passing through. Talk of schools closing and all

Could they afford the playstations even?

Playstations are dirt cheap pal. But I’d aim a little higher at a PS4.

Luddite alert

I think Cork City do quite a good job of selling themselves to punters as it is. Obviously could do more but they do make good effort. Loads of lads I know in the city bring their kids reasonably regularly

The one thing I think is completely wrong in his report is the comment about getting rid of the flares. I’d say if they actively sold flares inside the number of kids who would want to go would go through the roof

And yet they were granted a licence.

Are flares the new bootcut?

Teams dont automatically qualify for the Europa League.

Two teams have qualified for the Group stages in Delaney’s 13 year tenure.

Two teams automatically qualify for the qualifying rounds every year.
