His bad business acumen

So you refuse to comment? Telling.

He magicked €5m out of thin air.

Pot luck.

Luck o the Irish

I would have thought raising revenue would come under any CEO’s brief. Lot of lads find it an amazing achievement, bless.

The cost of living in Belarus is much lower than Ireland. Shock horror that cost of living impacts on salary levels.

That doesnt reflect well on the prize money for Irish clubs so does it?

Just reading about this report that prompted Delaney’s move from CEO to Executive Vice President. That report was written by ex FA man and independent sports consultant, Jonathan Hall.

John Delaney had been double jobbing and it required that the roles be split. The UEFA role was so important to the FAI that it was seen as in the best interests of the FAI for Delaney to move to that new role in the Association. Delaney was the man for the role, he had got it after years of building respect up internationally.

So in effect, Delaney’s strong job performance and his own selflessness meant he moved to poorer paying job.

Was there anything in that report about the new man/woman putting more effort into the domestic leagues?

That wouldn’t be considered revenue. It would be considered Other Income.

That would have provided a near 100% contribution to the bottom line. I imagine the only associated expenses were some legal fees and suitable standard accommodation and expenses for Delaney in Zurich when attending meetings regarding it.

I don’t know mate, it was only a summary.

The key pieces imo;

Apologies for my mis-classification.

I wish John all the best in his new old venture.

Cost of living doesn’t explain the disparity between the domestic league winners prize money and the salary of the CEO.

Yes, you brought the Belarus comparison into it, it works both ways

Fairly extraordinary mistake here from Tony.

Incorrect. Football is a global game, clubs must be self sufficient. Football associations don’t bankroll clubs, they govern them.

You dragged the Eastern European team in as a comparison — you then contradicted yourself using the same point and now you’re talking waffle.

It’s ok to be wrong sometimes.
