We appointed a woman recently who informed us immediately afterwards that she was pregnant and then immediately gave us her planned maternity leave. Weâd likely have appointed her anyway, but it seemed sly, and left a very bad taste in the mouth. Small businesses can founder on such things.
There are way way too many people of both genders going to college in Ireland . We need more women doing trades ( how come feminists donât look for this ) and more men too.
too many now thinking that a degree equals a big wage .
So will you now have to employ maternity cover effectively costing double? Youâd have to question the mind set here alright⌠The company are short staffed and need to employ to up output⌠I know what Iâll do, Iâll go for the job and then tell them Iâll be taking 6-9 months off. That should give them exactly what they are looking for.
If sheâs still in probation then they donât have to extend it, or would that be racist/sexist/discriminatory/illegal?
If sheâs already worked there beyond her probation period then sheâs served her time for a sufficiently long enough timeframe for @flattythehurdler to hand over control of her uterus (cc @Sidney).
