Jordan Peterson 🐐 vs CH4

I agree with most of what he says. It is largely basic common sense. That this has somehow become highly controversial is a reflection of where society is at.
It’s better than burning witches and hanging gays, but it is equally intolerant, just the punishment is less barbaric.
People take Twitter far too seriously.

What’s common sense about it?

Most of it.

What specifically?

Here you go mate. Didn’t have to look far.

Sid is winding up a big one.:flushed::slightly_smiling_face:

Peterson drives Woke Gemma and Jim demented but they’ve never actually read any of his books.

Is that addressed to me or @TheUlteriorMotive?

The post you respond to is a slogan.

What about, for instance what Peterson said about racism in Yorkshire Cricket Club - ie. when he called it “racism” (his inverted commas, made with his hands in a clear gesture that it wasn’t actually racism) on Question time recently?

How was that “common sense”?

How is passing off racism as banter common sense?

When was the last time another human being knowingly touched you?

If you ignore the fact that he justifies, condones and enables racism and misogyny a lot of what Peterson says is actually common sense.

Why would anybody want to read a book by Jordan Peterson given he’s a spectacular dullard?

Hardly surprising since they’ve spent a lifetime avoiding sense, responsibility and effort

I suppose you’d have to take into account the fact that his fanboys here think justifying, condoning and enabling racism and misogyny is common sense.

Yet yourself and glas are triggered by him and clearly study him closely. I watched the Cathy Newman interview in which he was calm, rational and reasonable, and other than that I’ve read about him on here.
I dont feel the need for self help books (thankfully).

To even listen to him talking would turn you off.

Oh yeah, have you even read his books mate?

This was quite prescient. Woke Gemma and Jim will now insist they are not upset. Not upset at all

Peterson reminds me of @Tierneevin1979

Gives it all the big licks in terms of being an intellectual with the condescending tone and at the back of it all says nothing of significance whatsoever.

Fellas we’re all weak and we’re all vulnerable. Jordan simply and compassionately acknowledges this and suggests some ways we can take perspnal responsibility and face our shortcomings. There’s no need to attack him.

What about what he said on Question Time recently, where he passed off systematic racism as banter, denied it was racism, and denied the existence of structural racism at all? How is that “common sense”?

That you deride objecting to those toxic opinions as “triggering” says a lot about the mindset of people who follow him. Peterson’s whole schtick is to brainwash his followers into a deeply unhealthy, cultish mindset where the most prized technique of discourse is to troll people by agreeing with deeply unhealthy, self pitying ideas which tend to appeal to a certain type of self-pitying middle aged white man.

ie. in other words, his whole schtick is the cult of white, reactionary male self pity, and to drive those people deeper into it through the cult of the false saviour, the “leader”.

This is a guy who has spent years holed up in Russia, addicted to benzos, and eating nothing but meat. :grinning:
