I dispute that, I am not required to pay any tax, so up yer bollocks. But you should realise that Ireland is a tax haven. We design our system to facilitate big business to pay as little tax as possible. See the headlines for apple’s profits and taxes paid today? JP is a drop in the ocean and chooses to live abroad, that’s his choice. Hating him is rather silly given he lives abroad out of choice and he is a drop in the ocean. It’s hypocritical given our country’s facilitation of huge corporations evading billions in taxes.
Big corporations set up their tax affairs in accordance with law to minimise tax. The corporation pays the tax on the staff’s income. If no tax on staff income company could pay them less gross. So corporation pays substantial tax just not corporation tax.
McManus is perfectly entitled to set himself up not to pay tax in Ireland.
However what he pays in charitable contributions is enabled by not paying tax. Without tax there would be no roads to drive to his home on etc

Both operate within the law of our stupid tax system, except one gives money to charity, is that your point?

You are a mess of contradictions. One day you are on here advocating that the state (ie the taxpayer) should be bailing out people forced to live in houses built in the 70’s. Now you are condoning people who don’t pay their fair share of taxes. (or any in your case). You seem to have mislaid that one pager they gave you on your first day in college. Remember the one that said a) climate change is bad, b) israel bad palestine good, c) right wing bad, crustie/leftie good? The one that saves you from having any independent thought for yourself? If you are breaking away and thinking for yourself, great. But I think those couple of Belgian beers you drink each week has your brain addled.
Those beers might have at that but you are being silly and pedantic. I’m not required to pay any taxes, there is no one for me to give them to should I wish. I’ll be playing plenty when I get home again. I think the vilification of people like JP and Bono is silly as it is a microcosm of a system our country promotes, I find it hypocritical. The same people who are so put out about individuals tax payments are probably proud of our system attracting companies to our wee tax haven island. In any event, they live or operate abroad. For fuck sake, do you send money home to Enda in an envelope? You purposely misinterpreted me on the issue of those houses which is just being stupid really.

I am. I like good coffee. Generally buy fairtrade though. I really hate starbucks too. Never really liked smoked salmon. My hammers are in fantastic shape.

Why don’t you have to pay tax?
This conversation is about PJ, not Apple.
I don’t want to sound all sort of profound and shit like that but every drop matters. PJ and his ilk don’t pay and meejia put the cunt on a pedestal every time they throw us a few spare quid. If he is worth a billion, then why doesn’t he throw us half of it? Remember this €40 million is only four times the amount he spent on Sue Annes wedding. Think of it this way. If you had only a thousand euros to your name and you handed €40 of it to charity should you get the front page of the Leader?
His money and influence has done more harm to Limerick GAA than good. It has given clowns like Riordan and his equals power way beyond their ability and that is dangerous.

I’d prefer the money going to bail out limerick hurling than bailing out the banks. By the way, given the option, would you pay tax? I wouldn’t and I don’t.
